About this property

Crockett's Cabin at Muletown Farm in Columbia, TN

We have four rental properties available at Muletown Farm, and this charming cabin is one of them. Originally built in the early 1800s as a "writer's" cabin, it has been fully equipped with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. Recently, the bathroom, windows, heating and cooling, as well as the gas fireplace, have been updated. You can enjoy the beautiful sunset views on the quiet farm, sip a cup of coffee on the front porch rocking chair, or make s'mores around the fire pit.

You can also take a stroll around the 32-acre property or go for a hike at nearby Stillhouse Hollow Falls. The cabin features one queen bed, one double bed, and a pullout loveseat. You can rent this cabin for a family vacation or rent all four cabins and bring your friends along!

Our location is just 55 minutes from downtown Nashville and 40 minutes from historic Franklin.

Beautiful, peaceful stay
My family stayed at all three properties on the farm for a wedding in town and we all enjoyed our stay. My husband, stepdaughter, and I stayed in the cabin. It was perfect for three. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Country life
Perfect! Holly described details of the property & it is just as described & in the photos. We got farm fresh eggs for our breakfast & met the dogs, fed the horses. So quiet, peaceful. The only negative is when the morning comes the sun shines bright in your eyes from the large window that faces East. But aside from waking with the sun our stay was amazing

This place is a gem!
Everything was as described. It was a great getaway for my wife and I for our anniversary. The gas fireplace was great. Overall it was very cozy! I wish we were able to stay longer, but we hope to return again soon and with carrots to feed Dixie!

Not the best for elderly
We loved the setting, but as 75 year olds we had a little difficulty pulling luggage over the poorly lighted and wet road and grass and stone walkway to Cabin 1. Once inside there was no place to open a suitcase without pulling it up the stairs to a dormer ceiling. We were so cold - the little heater was inadequate and the floors were like ice. We had no instructions for turning on the fireplace. If we wanted to cook the eggs for breakfast, the stovetop was covered with a board with things on top of it. If we wanted to move the board, there was no place to set it. We would like to come back and stay in a different cabin.

Tender Tennessee Christmas
This place truly felt like a Christmas dream come true. Decorated and everything when we got there! It was perfect for the 4 of us. We opened presents by the Christmas tree with our adult children who live in Columbia and got to snuggle our brand new grand baby by the fireplace. It gave us all that Hallmark movie “warm fuzzy” journey to the past, home away from home feel. I hope our family can make the Muletown Farm a part of our history year after year!

About the host

Hello! We are the Browns, and we purchased our 32-acre farm in 2017. We were searching for a place where we could get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and we found just what we were looking for. Not only did we find a peaceful haven for ourselves, but we also discovered a place that we could share with others who are looking to relax and connect with each other for a few days.

Why they chose this property

This farm was initially settled between 1808-1812 as part of a vast area gifted to Colonel Grant by George Washington as a token of appreciation for his leadership during the Revolutionary War. Grant's family later sold the property to the Armstrongs from South Carolina. Although the exact date is unknown, the main house and side cabin were built sometime between 1812-1889. The Armstrongs then sold the property to Dr. George, who was a well-known and beloved veterinarian for livestock in Maury County. The farm became popularly known as the George farm. Unfortunately, the property fell into disarray after Dr. George's death and long illness. However, we were enamored by the history, potential, and charm of the farm, and we decided to update and repair it as a working hobby farm. Our goal is to provide a place for people to relax, connect with each other, nature, and God. We welcome you to join us on our farm journey and hope that your stay here will be refreshing and enjoyable.

What makes this property unique

If you want to stay in a nostalgic Tennessee farm that is also close to all the wonderful things Nashville, Franklin, and Columbia have to offer, then this is the perfect place for you. You can enjoy both the city life and the countryside whenever you want.

The cabin has been updated with new heating and AC, new windows, and new gas logs, but we have done our best to retain the old farm style that makes it wonderfully charming.

Some of the animals you'll see on the farm include 1 horse, chickens, rabbits, and our 2 golden doodles.
