Hey, there! We're John and Emily South. Two Ohio kids who hightailed it to NC after graduating from Ohio University over a decade ago. In that time we've gotten married, bought three fixer-uppers, started a family business (Shoestring Productions), rescued three pups and made three rather cool kids of our own. Early in our marriage we fell in love with the NC Mountains and said someday we'd have our own place there. We can't believe that day is here and we are so excited to share our sweet little A - Frame with you, your family and friends - all are welcome here.

Why they chose this property

Sugar Grove is a quaint town just outside Boone, NC and down the road from Valle Crucis. We love being close to App State and King Street but far enough out to enjoy the peace and quiet. The A-Frame is also centrally located to Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and Seven Devils so many area attractions are within 30 minutes or less.

What makes this property unique

Appalachian A-Frame is truly a classic cabin, having been built in 1970! Surrounded by trees for peak leaf views —thoughtfully updated to blend modern comfort with vintage charm. Spacious enough to spread out but still cozy to keep the crew close when traveling as a group. We offer two living spaces (main floor and basement level) along with a bedroom and bathroom on each level to maximize privacy when needed.
