About this property

Cottage on Family Farm -- West of U.F./Gainesville/Newberry

Charming barn-style cottage on a 20 acre family farm in north central Florida, just west of Gainesville.

The cottage is on our family farm and has a nice view of rolling pastures. It is a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage that sleeps 6 -- 8. It has a queen size bed and a full size bed in the bedroom and a full-size sleeper sofa in the alcove. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room/dining room and 1 bathroom with a separate double sink area. There is a small storage loft in the bedroom. The cottage also has wireless internet, local t.v., a DVD player and DVDs, and a washer and dryer. It has a fenced yard with it's own entrance. Linens and cookware are provided.

We are located between Newberry, Fl and Trenton, Fl, 22 miles west of Gainesville, Fl. It is a quiet, convenient place to stay when visiting the University of Florida. We are only 5 miles west of the Easton Newberry Archery Center and Canterbury Equestrian Showplace. We are close to the Nature Coast State Trail (cycling, walking, horseback riding) and there are many springs in the area. We are 48 miles from Cedar Key, 53 miles from Ocala, 99 miles from St. Augustine/Crescent Beach, 128 miles from Disney World and 20 miles directly west of I-75.

The cottage is located on a farm. We have a small herd of miniature Zebu cattle and a flock of chickens (both hens and roosters). We also have a few farm cats. It is a great place to get away for some rest & relaxation and sit out and watch the stars at night!

After moving to north central Florida to attend the University of Florida, we decided that we loved the area and wanted to stay. Eventually we purchased property and turned it into a small farm.

Why they chose this property

Our family loves living out in the country and the area has some rolling hills and a nice view. It is quiet and peaceful and at the same time, close to many attractions and a convenient distance to Gainesville.

What makes this property unique

We built the cottage for visiting family, but it isn't used much, so we decided to make it available as a vacation rental. It is a great place to stay whether you're traveling to the area for sports events, to visit the University of Florida, or just to spend some time in the country!
