Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, location, listing accuracy
We arrived to a house on a busy street with a large amount of steep, unkept stairs to climb. There was no off street parking and we were told to just leave the car parked on the street even though there were no other cars parked. The code was the most easily guessed code to enter which, given our surroundings and the fact that we were 3 women immediately made us uncomfortable. Once we entered and checked the house we noticed that the bathroom had a very weird, unpleasant smell and the refrigerator smelled like fish. Additionally we were having trouble locking some of the windows- especially those that were easily accessible from either the front or back porch. Though the listing appeared to be clean and modern once we were in the home we realized that the photos were very stylized and staged and not truly representative of the house. In the end all 3 of us felt uncomfortable staying there and we ended up notifying the owner and leaving. His response was that we did not allow them to rectify any issues in a timely period and therefore refused to give a refund. Though how you can rectify windows that don’t properly lock and no off-street parking in a sketchy neighborhood I don’t know. I will be fighting this with both VRBO customer service as well as my credit card.
