Description of the village
The Walser village of Schmitten (1300m above sea level) is located in the heart of Graubünden between Lenzerheide and Davos, above the world-famous Landwasser viaduct. The Albula valley, which is located in the "Parc Ela" nature park, is framed by a beautiful, striking mountain landscape. In summer and in winter there are various possibilities to relax actively or simply. Schmitten has a village shop and a butcher.

Our Baroque parish church of All Saints (born around 1470) with its Gothic bell tower lies high above the Albula valley, and behind it the small Romanesque Luzius chapel (born around 800) with its frescoes, which are known as "The Bible of the Poor".

Landwasser Viaduct: Belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be reached on foot in 30 minutes in the snow-free months.

Schmitten local museum: shows how our ancestors lived.

Ore mines Schmitten: at 2546m above sea level are the former ore mines which can be visited with a guide.

Golf: The 18 hole golf course in Alvaneu Bad is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Graubünden.
