About this property

Private Lakefront Retreat Near Savage Gulf, The Caverns, OHV Park,Kayaks,Fishing

Secluded 3-acre lakefront lodge on a quiet, no-motor 74 acre lake with kayaks, fishing, and fire by the dock. Minutes from Savage Gulf, Fiery Gizzard, Foster Falls, Denny Cove, Coalmont OHV Park, and The Caverns.

Dogwood Lodge sits at the end of a quiet dead-end road on three private acres along Big Creek Lake in Coalmont, Tennessee. With 2,600 square feet of living space, this cedar lake house offers a rare combination of privacy, comfort, and access to some of the most unique outdoor and cultural experiences in the region.

The home has a timeless, lived-in character that makes it feel immediately comfortable. It is a place shaped by years of family use, now thoughtfully shared with others looking for the same kind of experience. Inside, you will find three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, two separate living areas, and an enclosed sleeping porch with wide views of the lake.

Big Creek Lake is a no-motor reservoir, which means the setting stays calm and quiet throughout the day. The water is ideal for fishing and kayaking, and both are part of the experience here. Fishing poles and tackle are provided, and unlike many lakes in Tennessee, the fish are safe to eat. Two kayaks are also available for exploring the shoreline. Evenings tend to gather around the dock, where a fire and the stillness of the water make it easy to slow down.

Sleeping arrangements are designed to be flexible and comfortable. The home includes a custom forest-themed iron canopy king bed, a queen bedroom, and a twin room with two beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room and an additional twin bed in the sleeping porch overlooking the lake. Each bedroom has its own TV. The primary bathroom features a soaking tub and separate shower, and the second bathroom includes a walk-in shower. Both are fully stocked, and a laundry room is available for guest use. The home is handicap accessible.

Whether you are spending time together in one of the living spaces or sitting out on the deck overlooking the water, the lodge is built for both gathering and quiet moments.

For those who want to explore, the location is ideal. Dogwood Lodge is just a short drive from Savage Gulf State Park, the Fiery Gizzard Trail, Foster Falls, and Denny Cove, along with the Coalmont OHV Park for off-road riding and trail access. The Caverns, a unique underground music venue known for concerts and special events, is also nearby. The University of the South at Sewanee is also a short drive away. The area offers something for everyone, from quiet hikes and scenic overlooks to rock climbing, live music, and outdoor adventure.

There are 2 exterior cameras onsite for guest safety.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property! There were two families with teenagers. The highlight of our trip was the peaceful, gorgeous lake. We loved kayaking, swimming and fishing. The house was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The host thought of many details to make our time there easy and carefree, including a well equipped kitchen. We hope to stay at this property again next summer!

We had 6 total on our trip and everyone was super happy and comfortable. The house is sprawling with lots of sitting in both living rooms and the dining room. It has a huge wrap around porch that directly overlooks the lake. The lake has a private dock, kayaks, a fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and plenty of fishing gear. We caught bass, sun perch, war mouth, and catfish in the lake. It’s the last house on the road with lots of mature trees and it’s very private. And peaceful. Our group was going to Coalmont UTV park for the weekend and it was a nice easy drive there. We had one 24ft trailer which easily fit in the driveway and we could probably get another similar sized one in if needed. We plan on staying again the next time we come up to the area.

Absolutely loved our very special stay at this gorgeous house. My twin sister and I booked it for our birthday along with my partner, our four year old twins, and a couple close friends. Having the kayaks was wonderful and we spent all day on and in the lake. Didn’t even leave the home it was such a peaceful and lovely place to treat as our destination. My kids loved the fairy house and games whenever we did come inside. All of us enjoyed the fun decor. Only notes for anyone with kids is to bring kid lifejackets, which we did thankfully! Adult lifejackets and just about anything else you can think of were provided. The twin daybed is actually the most comfy and magical spot in the house just for consideration if you’re feeling like there might not be enough space in the main bedrooms. We all hope to come back someday. Thank you to Amy for quick, clear, and kind communications.

Beautifully furnished and equipped house on a serene lakeside setting. Very private, quiet and clean. We have been renting houses and cabins in the area for 20 years and this is probably the best one yet. Cannot recommend highly enough.
