Volkmarsen is 9km from Bad Arolsen. The Hörle area is 6km from the centre of Volkmarsen, right by the edge of a forest on a cul-de-sac.

The Sababurg animal park in Hofgeismar is one of the oldest zoological establishments in Europe, with over 900 animals and 80 different species.
