Huge. 4beds In Marais Listed Bldg. Quiet, Sunny And Central.
This lovely duplex is set in the ultimate location in Paris, on the top floor (with elevator) of a listed 17th century townhouse, three minutes walk from the Seine. 160 sq Meters (1750 sq ft), four bedrooms all with queen size beds, two bathrooms and all the amenities expected in a modern luxury apartment. (Optical fiber internet and linens washed with allergic-free organic soap) The location is possibly the last quiet and unspoilt block in central Paris (village st Paul), and yet you have access to three different metro lines (and a taxi station) two minutes away. As you can see from the photographs, this is a home, it is not designed for the sole purpose to rent. I limit the number of tenants and require a minimum length of stay because this place is more like a country house than a shelter, albeit a luxurious one... The building is extremely secure since a full time concierge lives in the building. If you like light, the sun and to sleep with windows open and wake up on the song of birds in a large courtyard shaded by an old sycamore tree, this place is for you. PS: "Emily in Paris " was filmed this summer in the building.

This property is in a great location, near shops and good food, a short walk to the river, close to the metro. Quiet street and quiet apartment, plenty of room for the 7 of us. The lift was very helpful with luggage and tired legs on occasion. We were greeted and oriented by a friend of the owner. He was wonderfully helpful and very responsive. As others have mentioned, the older people got the downstairs bedroom while the kids and grandkids were upstairs. The only complaint was from the tall upstairs residents who periodically hit their heads on the low ceiling/cross studs. We would certainly go back and recommend it to others looking for a real Parisian experience, especially for families.
Wonderful stay in a beautiful building and neighborhood. Apartment is reminiscent of a country style home in the middle of the city. Very attentive and caring host.
In an incredible area, close to all amenities.
The apt was very well spaced out giving the family of 3 generations a lot of space and privacy when we wanted it. We had a wonderful time. Thank you
Jean's beautiful apartment was the perfect home base for our family of 5. The history and character of the apartment made for a charming place to stay, and the surrounding neighborhood is fantastic--lots of restaurants, bakeries, and shops, plus walking distance to the Seine and lots of other fun neighborhoods. Jean was a gracious host who gave helpful instructions and made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend!
Jean is a great host - very quick and responsive to every need. The flat is quirky and charming. It faces an interior courtyard so it is particularly quiet. The location is key--very accessible to Metro and to lots of shops and restaurants of the Marais. We had a lovely stay.
The apartment was perfect! The location could not be better and it is full of character. All questions and requests answered immediately. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to be near outstanding restaurants, shops and services. You won’t be disappointed! And Le Marais is a very vibrant neighborhood—certainly one of the most interesting in Paris.
We wanted to stay in a quintessential French apartment building, and this was it! Granted, it's on the top floor, but the elevator made bringing luggage in and out easy. We could stretch out in the living areas, although we did tend to hang out in the charming kitchen. Close to two Metro lines, and near the Seine makes it a perfect location.
Our family (2 adults, 2 kids ages 5 and 9, plus my mother) had a lovely one month stay at this home. The owner and his property manager were both friendly and communicative and made our stay even more enjoyable by providing us with the details of the amazing history of the home as well as recommendations for activities and restaurants. The home is located in an old classic Parisian mansion in a current day fabulous neighborhood within very easy walking distance of countless restaurants and attractions (and playgrounds!).
We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more and would absolutely stay there again.
Phenomenal characterful Parisian experience in fabulous location
The location is amazing if you wish to feel immersed in old Paris. Beautiful buildings and a sense of history. The apartment is enormous for Paris, with room to spread out.
Jean, the owner and host is immensely proactive, helpful, and engaged. He communicated with us promptly throughout our booking and stay. Because the property is not constantly rented out, he was also extremely kind and understanding re our arrival time and checkout time. This was much appreciated. The property is full of a sense of history and time: creaky floorboards, worn staircases, rickety tiles on the floor, eclectic furniture. I felt i had stepped back in time.
Potential things to be aware of when booking this (expensive) property: The stairs within the flat will not necessarily suit younger children or anyone with even slightly impaired mobility. This property is a second home to the owner, and is not kitted out with luxury bedding and towels. The owner's personal effects are still in situ. Some may find this offputting. It is also fair to say that the ancient plumbing may put some off - pumps to drain bath, glugging from pipes etc. The shower is quirky, and the bathroom arrangement is unusual in relation to the rooms (due to it being a loft apartment).
But if you want a great characterful Parisian experience, with a friendly, responsive and reliable host, with plenty of space (we were a party of five) i would not hesitate to recommend this apartment.
Our family of 5 (three teenage kids) had a wonderful stay at Jean’s apartment in Le Marais. It was our first time in Paris. Jean was very communicative and responsive via VRBO messaging both during the booking process and leading up to the trip, providing local recommendations. His friend Charlie was accessible and available to us both upon arrival and departure, and during the trip if we had any needs (he helped arrange shuttle transportation to and from CDG for us as well). The apartment is exactly as advertised on VRBO, with no surprises. It is super charming, with plenty of space for the five of us. The location is fantastic, allowing for easy walking access to many of Paris’s great neighborhoods and sites to see, as well as a quick and easy walk to the Saint-Paul metro station (line 1) which was a great way to get around the city as well. We would absolutely come back and stay here again. Some notes for first-timers: Bring comfortable shoes to walk. Stop frequently for champagne/cocktails/crepes. Explore all the different neighborhoods. See the Eiffel Tower up close at night. Hit the other historic landmarks earlier in the day, to avoid crowds. Don’t be afraid of the metro and learn it early, it is super convenient! Thanks Jean, we had a great time.
Charm Upon Charm! Perfect Mix of Modern Touches in a Historical Apartment.
This spacious and historical property does not disappoint in providing true Parisian style. Picturesque bookshelves, windy staircases, original windows, creaky wood floors, marble surfaces...Our big group spanned ages from 4 to 65- and we all found a little sun-soaked nook to love without ever feeling crowded. Neighborhood offerings for food, drink, and shops are plentiful, and the building courtyard is quiet and calm despite the city setting.
Jean was very communicative, and the concierge on site popped up to show us how to work doors, etc. We tried to be low maintenance, but felt confident that help was nearby if ever needed!
As others have mentioned, the only "fair warning" is that due to the historical nature of the property, there are many stairs and narrow corridors to and in the apartment. We let grandparents enjoy the floor-level room, while we headed to the servant's quarters with our little kids (which requires a steep but manageable stair climb). We admittedly are much taller than the average 19th century Parisian so bumped our heads more than we'd like to admit. Jean has appointed the apartment with modern cooking supplies and washer/dryer- which were most appreciated, and a nice complement to the more antiquated details.
We would absolutely recommend this property to visiting friends and family, and hope to return in the future.
This apartment is even better than pictured. Incredibly spacious, well-appointed, with a true working kitchen. Comfortable beds and very quiet despite being located in a great central neighborhood within walking distance of 2 different subway lines and 5 minutes to the Seine. Excellent communication with host.
Jean is a fantastic host, extremely responsive and helpful. The location is outstanding!

Great Family Vacation full of Parisian Charm!
We had the pleasure of staying in Jean’s great Paris apartment. The location is perfect for the ultimate Paris experience and the apartment is full of charm and space. We had 5 adults and there was plenty of room for all. All of the furnishings are perfect and quite comfortable. The kitchen is packed with modern day appliances nestled in a cozy historic room. Jean was a great host! He met us at arrival and made us feel comfortable and showed us everything we would need and how to work everything. He was also very responsive if we needed anything. Our vacation was awesome and we would definitely stay here again and recommend to all.

Memorable experience
I wanted my grand kids to have a real Parisian experience as my daughter had when we lived in Paris when she was 4. Jean's place couldn't have been more perfect; old, historic, very quiet, so spacious, great views, lovely furnishings. The kitchen was wonderful and fully equipped and there is a washer and dryer!! The location couldn't have been more perfect either......a block or two from the metro, the buses, cafes and shops and great restaurants. I wanted to give it 5 stars but you do need to know that it really is not for everyone....It's on the 4th? floor and yes there is an elevator, but Jean's apartment itself has two floors and the second floor has really steep small steps--it was where the maids lived in the attic. And the beds are on the floor. Prancing up and down was fine for my 8 and 10 year old; and my 45 year old daughter and son-in-law. But for me--75-- and my French friend--71--we just had to stay downstairs. And also, despite the marvelous elevator, a wheelchair could not get through the narrow halls or the two steps to the kitchen door. So just wanted to let people know; except for the stairs, everything was super. And Jean was extremely supportive with everything--gets back to you immediately and very helpful.

Home from home in wonderful area.
Jean was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely place to stay, very arty and quirky. Lift was an added bonus. The weather was extremely hot but fans are provided in the rooms. Stairs up to three bedrooms are steep but doable and all add to the wonderful Paris home. There is a wonderful draped four poster bed on the same floor as the lounge that my daughter (who is 20) bagged straight away. The area felt safe with lots of good cafe/bars and a supermarket just around the corner. 2 mins walk from the Seine and 15 mins walk to Notre dame. Thank you Jean for a fantastic stay. Best Regards, Tina, Don, Alanah-Rose and Alina

Lovely large apartment in the 4th
We just stayed at this lovely large apartment in the 4th with our 3 boys ages 10-15. It has terrific views and modern appliances, including a washer and drier. Bakeries, a grocery, a wine store, and fruit and vegetable stands are a couple of blocks away. The owner Jean was very helpful and easy to interact with. He is often in Paris and there is a concierge in the building, in case issues arise. The steps to the 2nd floor, where 3 of the bedrooms are located, are quite steep, so I would not recommend the apartment for people with mobility issues or small children.
