About this property

Secluded Water & Mountain View Retreat with Sauna

One of Whidbey Island’s most sought-after private retreats, this design-forward home is perched above the harbor with sweeping views of the Sound, Mount Baker, and the Cascade Mountains. Set among the trees yet open to expansive water and mountain vistas, the home offers a rare sense of calm, privacy, and quiet luxury, an ideal escape from the pace of the city.

From the moment you arrive, the experience is about slowing down. Mornings begin with coffee as soft light moves across the water. Evenings are best spent by the fireplace, watching the sky shift over the mountains. Every space is designed to feel open, grounded, and connected to the surrounding landscape.

The home is centered around a signature wellness experience. An 8-person redwood sauna with panoramic windows invites you to unwind while taking in the natural beauty outside. Just steps away, an outdoor shower allows for a refreshing hot and cold cycle, creating a spa-like ritual that feels both restorative and immersive in nature.

Inside, the living space is warm and inviting, anchored by a comfortable sofa and fireplace, with expansive windows that keep the views always in sight. The open layout flows seamlessly into the dining area and kitchen, making it easy to gather, cook, and share time together without ever feeling crowded. Two peaceful bedrooms and two full bathrooms provide comfort and privacy, while a dedicated office offers a quiet place for reading, journaling, or remote work.

The outdoor setting is equally compelling, surrounded by trees and ever-changing views of the water and sky. Whether you are enjoying a slow morning, an afternoon reset in the sauna, or a quiet evening under the stars, the home is designed to help you fully disconnect and recharge.

Despite its secluded feel, the location is ideal for exploring Whidbey Island. Historic Coupeville, scenic beaches, and some of the island’s most beautiful state parks are just a short drive away, while Oak Harbor provides convenient access to groceries, dining, and everyday essentials. Ferry access to Port Townsend is also nearby for easy day trips.

This home is best suited for guests seeking a premium, peaceful escape, whether for a couples’ getaway, a small group retreat, or a quiet stay immersed in nature. It is a place to slow down, reset, and experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest in a more intentional way.

We had an amazing stay and truly could not have asked for a better experience! The views are absolutely breathtaking and were the highlight of our time here. From sunrise to sunset, the setting is simply stunning and creates a very special atmosphere. The home itself is beautifully designed, incredibly comfortable, and perfectly clean. It has a balance between cozy and spacious, making it easy to relax and fully enjoy the space. Every detail felt thoughtfully considered. The amenities elevated the experience even further. The sauna was a standout and added a true sense of luxury, and we made great use of the Solo Stove and Blackstone. Everything we could have needed was provided and more.We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a memorable and elevated stay, and we would absolutely return without hesitation. It was easily one of the best stays we’ve ever had!Thank you to Sarah and Scott!

About the host

I have always been drawn to places that create a true sense of pause, where you can step out of the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what matters. Travel has always been a big part of my life, and I’ve stayed in everything from boutique hotels to small, thoughtfully run homes. The places that have stuck with me most weren’t just beautiful, they felt intentional, calming, and easy to settle into.

That’s exactly what I set out to create here. We designed this home to be our retreat from the city. Every decision, from the layout to the sauna experience, was made with the goal of slowing down and restoring peace.

As a host, I care deeply about the details that shape a stay like clear communication, and a space that feels even better in person than it does in photos. My goal is simple: to create the kind of place you’ll want to return to.

Why they chose this property

This part of Whidbey offers something that’s increasingly hard to find: privacy, natural beauty, and a sense of quiet, all without feeling remote or disconnected.

You’re surrounded by trees and overlooking the water, with views that shift throughout the day; from soft, misty mornings to clear views of Mount Baker and the Cascades. It feels tucked away, but you’re still just a short drive from Coupeville and Oak Harbor, one of the most charming towns on the island, as well as beaches, state parks, and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

What I love most is the balance. You can spend the day exploring, walking along the shoreline, visiting local shops, or hiking in Deception Pass, and then come back to a space that feels completely your own. It’s peaceful in a way that invites you to slow down, but never boring.

What makes this property unique

What sets this home apart is the combination of elevated design, privacy, and a true sense of experience, not just a place to stay, but a place to reset.

The standout feature is the 8-person redwood sauna with panoramic windows, paired with an outdoor shower for a hot and cold experience that feels immersive and restorative. It’s rare to find something like this in a private home, especially with this level of connection to the surrounding nature.

Beyond that, the home is intentionally designed to bring the outdoors in. Expansive windows frame sweeping views of the harbor, the Sound, Mount Baker, and the Cascades, while the open layout and natural light create a sense of calm and ease throughout.

It’s also the combination of seclusion and accessibility that makes it special. You feel completely tucked away, yet you’re minutes from some of the best parts of Whidbey. It’s a balance that’s hard to replicate, and one that keeps us coming back.
