Close to groceries, restaurants, gym, bus, and grand central. Great central location. Safe neighborhood! Good area for someone with kid/kids. It’s a block away from a hospital, just be aware of noises from ambulance. Outside of the place was very dirty and messy. It was filthy that the Department of Sanitation sent a letter of penalty to the property and placed it on the front door. I took a picture of it and sent it to the owner.Be mindful that there are tenants there. They’re all quiet. Studio looks decent. Rewash dishes (cups and utensils) prior use.Bed is quite elevated/high, but comfortable. Pillows are quite flat, bring travel pillow if you can. There’s plenty of blankets.Bathroom was alright. There’s some stench scent coming out of the bathroom. Have to make sure that the door stays shut after each use.The owner was extremely responsive. Replies right away and always make sure that I’m safe. I find that quite warm.

A bait and switch operation by our experience. The property was available, then not, then was, then not. By then we were shortly before our departure and informed there was a complication with the dates and offered a combination of two apartments in the same building to cover the number of days of our stay. The morning of our arrival in NY, we were informed that one of the units could not be cleaned in time for our arrival because it was so trashed by the previous occupant who had been living there for several months. We were sent photos which showed a severely damaged and disgustingly dirty unit. To help ensure we would have accommodation in NY we were offered a unit in another area of town. The pictures looked reasonable, so we took it. The building turned out to be a tenement looking building. The primary problem was a strong, permeating smell of cat box. The smell was in the apartment and throughout the hallways for the duration of our stay. The building door lock was damaged, so difficult to use the key to open it. The apartment living room light would not work reliably, so it either would not go on or off. The morning of our departure we packed in the near dark. One of two lamps had a non working bulb and the other lamp was super dim. There was one mirror over the bathroom sink and the bathroom outlet did not work, so I had to use the hairdryer in the bedroom where there was an outlet but no mirror. Other issues, so much of my NY time was on the phone about problems.
