A workshop lovingly converted from a former stable building
The apartment is located in a 100-year-old barn in an idyllic village of 26 residents, nestled amid (almost) unspoiled nature on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath. Over the years, it has served as a home for pigs, cattle, horses, and weddings. The workshop, located in the southern part of the barn, has been lovingly renovated and converted into a loft-style apartment.
The small, tranquil village of Haarstorf lies between Lüneburg and Uelzen (a 25-minute drive away) and can only be reached by car or bicycle. There is no public transport here. Instead, you’ll find plenty of peace and quiet, abundant nature, many animals, clear starry skies and dark nights (since we don’t have streetlights either), beautiful walking trails, extensive forests, and an equally diverse range of excursion options.
A place to pause and connect with nature!
The apartment is the only living unit in this massive barn, which was built over 100 years ago in the Prussian style. Thanks to its location in the southern part of the barn, it’s always bright and filled with natural light. The large windows offer a wonderful, unobstructed view into the distance towards the east and south.
The adobe walls and wooden floors contribute to a warm and cosy atmosphere, despite the high ceilings. And when wind and rain batter the barn starting in November, the Swedish stove provides cosy warmth.
The apartment is laid out as a large combined dining and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped, and to get you started, basic items such as vinegar and oil, sugar, salt, and pepper, jars of cereal, flour, rice, and pasta, a jar of tomato sauce, coffee, espresso, and tea are provided.
Adjacent to the bedroom is a small, simple bathroom with a shower and toilet.
In the summer, lounge chairs, a hammock, and/or a picnic blanket invite you to find a beautiful, quiet spot in the large courtyard, the adjacent meadows, or a small beech forest.
A retreat far from all the hustle and bustle.
The farm is home to goats, horses, cats, and dogs—and occasionally a few cows as well. You’re also welcome to bring your own horse.
On weekends, you can also book riding lessons on our Icelandic horses, a goat walk, or a horseback ride.
For skateboarding enthusiasts, there’s even a skateboard ramp (125 cm high, 5 m wide) in another barn, which you’re more than welcome to use by arrangement.
We’re happy to help with any questions or advice and look forward to your visit!
