About this property
Historic 1910 Lodge - Rustic Charm - Steps to Beach and Town - Screened Porch
Experience rustic elegance in the heart of Grand Lake. The Owen House has passed through just three families in 120 years, preserving its character as a true time capsule. Perched on the glacial moraine above town, the property sits in a beautiful aspen grove with sweeping lake views. Originally built by Henry Schnoor in 1910, the home was sold to the Owen Family in the 1920's and has been a notable landmark in town since. Henry Schnoor was an early and prolific builder who helped to shape the rustic style famous in Grand Lake. https://grandlakehistory.org/grand-lake-history/people/henry-schnoor/
The front porch is a destination in itself, with hammocks, a swing, and wicker furniture perfect for outdoor relaxation. Upstairs, four bedrooms share a full bath with shower and tub. The main level features a spacious living room with wood-burning fireplace, a well-equipped kitchen with ample counter and storage space, and a half bath.
Off-street parking accommodates two to three vehicles, with additional town parking nearby. The home is steps from two marinas (offering pontoon boats, Boston Whalers, paddleboards, and kayaks), the public beach, and Grand Lake Yacht Club. Coffee shops are two minutes away, restaurants are plentiful, and the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance is a short drive, with several trailheads even closer.
The property is available for summer and fall stays while off-season restorations continue. Home is well maintained with fully stocked kitchen; the experience is best described as comfortably rustic — a peaceful retreat blending the energy of town with mountain surroundings, offering generous common areas and private bedrooms well suited for families. We want your visit to feel like coming home, the spaces are cozy, warm and welcoming throughout the house. For repeat visitors from 2026, we are updating the lower level bath and adding a second bath upstairs for 2027!
A few things to know before you book: -Access from the off street parking area requires climbing 25 steps and a short path with handrails. -The kitchen is well equipped but does not include a dishwasher. -Full-size laundry is available for guest use. -The upstairs full bath (tub/shower) is the only full bath; a half bath is located on the main level. (Update home will have 3 full or 3/4 bathrooms for 2027!) -Reliable Wi-Fi is available; there is no TV.
