About this property

Historic Mountain Lodge with Pool, Views & 37 Private Acres w/ River Access

Welcome to your private historical mountain retreat in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. This 4500 sq ft 1800s-style mountain lodge is perched on a tall hilltop with breathtaking views over 37 acres of private land.

Perfect for families, celebrations, holiday gatherings, crystal hunters, and anyone seeking peace, this home blends the rustic charm of the 1800s American frontier with modern luxury & smart-home features. Vaulted ceilings, and gorgeous red wood and stone interior throughout. This is our primary home so we hope it feels like home to you as well.

The History:

This land carries deep local history tied to the Whittington family—early settlers who helped build and shape the Story/Mt. Ida region. Local accounts credit Granville Whittington with having lived on our land. He was the representing member for Montgomery County in the Sixth General Assembly (Nov-Dec 1846), and he was accredited with building the area’s first General Store, established in 1837 , as well as the area’s first Post Office, established in 1842. He spent his life serving neighbors and travelers in the Ouachita foothills at a time when “town” was still mostly forest and wagon roads. That post office was built on this land. The only other home built on the same land was our home, and records indicate it was originally built in the year 1840. So historical evidence points to Granville Whittington actually having lived in this home. When you stay here, you’re not just visiting the mountains—you’re stepping onto ground with a real frontier story.
