Both are home to an incredibly rich variety of flora and fauna that is waiting to be discovered. In the Gesäuse you should not miss to go kayaking. Some parts of the water are perfectly suitable for beginners and the staff of the camps will provide you with perfect instruction.
The Traunsee with the famous town of Gmunden can be reached in about 30 minutes by car, the Attersee in about 35 minutes. Both lakes are worth a day trip, you can visit the surrounding beautiful small villages as well as take a pleasant boat ride across the lake.
The famous Benedictine monastery of Admont, located directly at the entrance to the Gesäuse National Park, is already in Styria, but it has the world's largest monastery library, and the monastery church itself with its attached museum is also a must-see.
The skiing area Vorderstoder-Hinterstoder is about 40 km away. Here alpine skiers are in good hands, the slopes are super prepared and there are about 40 kilometers of slopes at your disposal.
