The property listing highlighted a glass wall with a view of a large deck and fenced yard, which was not included in the actual rental. I arrived on Wednesday, October 7th, after an 18-hour drive from South Carolina. The host’s entry instructions were clear, but the porch light at the top of the stairs was out, making it hard to enter the code sent to my smartphone.Upon entering, I found several issues: a kitchen outlet with exposed live wires, a burned-out lightbulb in the living room, holes in the bathroom wall, missing towel rack brackets, and no bath soap. The two bedrooms, adequate for four guests with four twin beds (I booked for three), were listed as “Sleeps 6.” Two locked mystery doors led to a room with a view, causing sleep disturbances due to noise from the adjacent room.We stayed for 2 nights. On the 3rd day, my grandson had allergy issues, so I stayed in touch while finalizing arrangements for a memorial service. The host messaged, asking if they could turn over my room for another guest. I replied that we were staying until Sunday morning. Upon returning, I found my belongings moved to the living room while my grandson slept under medication. The host apologized, claiming the cleaners were instructed not to move my belongings and asked if I still needed two bedrooms. An attempt to exit through the front door was thwarted when I discovered that the interior door opened, but the exteror (storm) door could not be unlocked - FIRE Hazard.
