Unwind from the stress of everyday life, enjoy pure tranquility, surrounded by nothing but nature and endless expanses, and recharge your batteries: That’s exactly what the “Yellow Lapland House” is for.
Nestled in the solitude of Swedish Lapland, it’s the perfect place to shut everything down and start fresh.

You’ll find your holiday home about 80 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle in a welcoming clearing in the heart of Europe’s last great wilderness, nestled among rolling hills, dark lakes, and mysterious moorlands. A landscape that reveals its very special charm as the seasons change—from the sun-drenched summer with its “white nights” and the abundance of nature, through fall, when all of Lapland seems to transform into a single palette of colours, to winter, when the sky burns above the snow-covered landscape during the short hours of daylight and the Northern Lights dance magically at night…

House Description and Amenities

Your holiday home currently sleeps 7 in 3 guest bedrooms and 1 living room with sleeping accommodation.
Of course, there’s also a fully equipped kitchen (electric stove, oven, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle) with a large dining table (extendable) for up to 8 people, as well as a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet.
The living room invites you to relax with a spacious sofa set (converts to a sleeper for 2); a highlight is the large wood-burning stove with a panoramic glass door, which radiates cosy warmth in winter (but not only then ;-)) after an eventful day in the snow and soothes the soul with the dance of its flames.
Of course, the house also offers the comfort of central heating with thermostat control—wood-fired in the traditional Lapland style and equipped with an electric frost protector. Running (hot) water from our own well is, of course, a given.
In the guest bedrooms, you’ll find a restful night’s sleep in either a loft bed and a single bed or a pull-out double bed; we’ve naturally provided plenty of blankets to keep you cosy and warm even in winter; there’s also ample storage space for your luggage.

Outdoor Area

The house is located in the sunniest spot in the entire village, allowing you to enjoy the outdoor area all day long. In the summer, relax and read in our garden furniture; in the winter, play in the snow and use it as a starting point for a wide variety of outdoor adventures. From the property, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and mountains—especially in the summer, when the breathtaking sunsets never fail to leave a lasting impression.
Also, especially in the summer, our (still makeshift) barbecue area is the perfect spot to wind down the day around a hearty campfire with freshly prepared moose burgers or reindeer steaks…

Location and Directions

You’ll find the Yellow Lapland House in the municipality of Arvidsjaur—with just 1 inhabitant per square kilometre, one of Sweden’s most sparsely populated municipalities.
The small hamlet of Pilträsk, where our house is located, lies roughly halfway between the two main towns of Arvidsjaur and Älvsbyn—both about 60 km away and home to the nearest shopping options.
Access to the house is via a gravel road typical of northern Sweden; traffic on this road rarely exceeds 10 vehicles a day... :-)

The nearest train station (with a night train connection to Stockholm) is in Älvsbyn; There are airports in Arvidsjaur (with direct winter charter flights from Germany) and in Luleå, about 120 km away (with some very affordable scheduled flights to Germany via Stockholm).
A car is essential for a holiday in Lapland—while there is a public bus network, it only serves the main roads and doesn’t run very frequently. If needed, you’ll find a selection of car hire companies at the airports in Luleå and Arvidsjaur.
The nearest lake—Pilträsket, which is practically our “backyard lake”—is about 500 metres from the house; the nearest swimming spot at Ljusträsket is just under 5 kilometres away.
And the fascinating mountain landscape of the subarctic fells is also within reasonable reach.

Activities / Excursion
