HURRICANE LOWELL UPDATE — OCTOBER 2026

Kiahuna Plantation and the Poipu area are actively recovering from Hurricane Lowell. Unit 44 fared well, and cleanup and repairs continue throughout the property. Kiahuna has confirmed that the property is safe to walk around, although some areas remain fenced while recovery work continues.
Due to storm-related erosion, there is currently no direct beach access from Kiahuna's Great Lawn. Kiahuna Beach remains accessible from other nearby public access points. The Beach Hut is temporarily closed while Kiahuna works toward rebuilding it; surf lessons are being offered from a temporary location on the property, and beach towels will be provided in Unit 44 for our guests during this transition.
On-site guest laundry is temporarily unavailable while new washers and dryers are on order, with reopening currently anticipated in late November. Community BBQ grills are available and being cleaned daily.
We’ll continue to keep upcoming guests updated as conditions change.

Unit 44 at Kiahuna Plantation is a fully remodeled and newly updated ground-floor end unit with split A/C in both the living room and bedroom — just a 2-minute walk to Kiahuna Beach and the Great Lawn.

Combining Kiahuna's relaxed island atmosphere with a completely updated interior, Unit 44 features a remodeled kitchen, remodeled bathroom with spacious walk-in tiled shower, and ceramic wood-look tile flooring throughout. We recently completed an additional top-to-bottom update with fresh paint throughout, refinished woodwork, new split A/C, and new furnishings, decor, lighting and California king mattress.

The result is a fresh, comfortable island retreat designed for an easy, relaxing stay in Poipu.

THE CONDO

Located in Building 9, Unit 44 is a private ground-floor end unit with extra windows, natural light and easy indoor-outdoor living. Enjoy Kauai's tradewinds when you want them, or close everything up and enjoy individually controlled split A/C in both the bedroom and living room.

BEACH DAYS MADE EASY

One of the best things about Unit 44 is how easy it is to head to the beach.

A dedicated beach-gear closet just outside our front door keeps your beach gear close at hand. We provide beach chairs, an umbrella, cooler, a boogie board, snorkel gear, floating lounge chairs, a large beach tote and dry-storage bag.

Kiahuna Beach is normally only about a two-minute walk across the lawn from Unit 44. During the current Hurricane Lowell recovery, direct beach access from Kiahuna's Great Lawn is temporarily closed due to storm-related erosion. The beach remains accessible from other nearby public access points.

Another nice convenience is easy access to two nearby foot-wash stations — one just off our lanai and another along the walkway near our front door — handy after a day at the beach.

KIAHUNA PLANTATION & POIPU

Kiahuna Plantation is one of Poipu's most loved beachfront properties, known for its expansive lawns, mature tropical landscaping and relaxed, low-rise island atmosphere. Rather than a high-rise resort, Kiahuna is spread across acres of beautiful open space leading down to the beach.

From Unit 44, you're also close to the walking paths connecting Kiahuna with Poipu Beach and the South Shore coastline.

Restaurants, coffee, shopping and several of Poipu's beaches are all within walking distance, making it easy to enjoy much of Poipu without getting in the car.

For guests traveling with an electric vehicle, an EV charging station is conveniently located just outside Building 9.

Your stay includes complimentary access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club, located just across the street from Kiahuna Plantation, featuring:

On-site laundry facilities are temporarily unavailable while new washers and dryers are being installed.

NO SURPRISE CLEANING FEES

All required housekeeping services and the mandatory checkout cleaning are included in our rates.

There is no separate mandatory cleaning fee added to your reservation — an important difference when comparing the total cost of your stay.
