About the host
Hosted by Donnella Prentice
I grew up in a small town in Maine, where Saturdays were always family days. My mom and dad would pile all five of us kids into the car for a Saturday drive or picnic, exploring the coast of Maine and the mountains of New Hampshire. Those adventures sparked a lifelong love of the outdoors, travel, and discovering new places—a tradition Joe and I continue today through camping and visits to state and national parks.
My parents were also two of the warmest and most hospitable people you could ever meet. There was always room at our dinner table for one more guest and a bed for a weary traveler. Anyone who crossed the threshold of our home was welcomed as family. I carry that same love of entertaining and hospitality with me today, and it is a big part of what makes hosting at Vintage Charm so special to me.
My mother also gave me a deep appreciation for the past. She was sentimental by nature and loved antiques, family history, and genealogy. I inherited that same fascination with the stories behind old things. At Vintage Charm, you’ll find many antiques and vintage pieces that have special meaning to me. Some even have a little story of their own, and you may find a note sharing their history, how they were used, or how they eventually found their way into my care. It is a pleasure to share these treasures with our guests.
My father retired from the Navy, and growing up in a military family taught me another important lesson: wherever you go, friendships and connections can follow you. Old family friends seemed to surface wherever we lived. Joe is also retired military, and our shared experiences have deepened our love of travel and our appreciation for the friendships and memories made along the way.
We hope that when you stay at Vintage Charm, you feel more than simply welcomed—you feel at home. It is our pleasure to share our home, our stories, and a little piece of the things we love with you.
Welcome to Vintage Charm. We’re so glad you’re here.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood and home is where the family kept coming back to after various military tours overseas to Hawaii, Germany, and Korea. It was a quiet neighborhood with larger yards and friendly neighbors. Trees were well established and the backyard was private and shaded.
What makes this property unique
I shared much about Vintage Charm & its uniqueness under “My Story”, but its uniqueness is the genuine spirit of hospitality you will find here and the stories behind the furniture pieces and decor in our home.
