About this property

Walkable Downtown: The Mary Dill House c. 1932

Step into 1930s charm at this beautifully preserved 'twin' cottage in the heart of Old Town. Built in 1932 by Mary Dill, this symmetrical brick gem offers a perfect blend of historic soul and modern comfort. You are just a 5-minute stroll from the coffee shops, boutiques, and vibrant energy of downtown Huntsville.

A curated blend of 1930s soul and modern luxury. Built in 1932 by beloved local schoolteacher Mary Dill, this historic "twin" cottage is a centerpiece of Huntsville’s charming Old Town District. Whether you’re here for a weekend of downtown dining or a deep dive into North Alabama history, you are perfectly positioned in the heart of the 35801.

The Space
Our home is designed for the traveler who appreciates high-end design and historic character.

The Living Room:
Relax on our plush velvet sofa beneath the original 1932 fireplace hearth. (Please note: The fireplace is decorative only and not operational.) Large windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the original hardwood floors and curated art.

The Chef’s Kitchen:
A full renovation featuring custom sage green cabinetry, stunning white quartz countertops, and exposed original brick. Fully stocked for your morning coffee or a home-cooked meal.

The Bedroom:
A quiet, moody retreat featuring premium linens and blackout shades for a perfect night's rest.

The Spa Bath: Features a modern walk-in shower with designer herringbone tile and high-end fixtures.
Privacy & Atmosphere

You have the entire 403 side of the duplex to yourself. As this is a classic "twin" cottage, you share a common wall with an adjoining unit; while we’ve prioritized privacy, you may occasionally hear normal household sounds from your neighbors.

Our location is unbeatable for those wanting to be steps from downtown. Because we are in a vibrant urban area, you will experience "city sounds"—including typical traffic, weekend foot traffic, and the occasional siren. To ensure a restful stay, we provide a white noise machine and complimentary earplugs.

The Legacy of Compassion
While this home was built in 1932, its story began during the Civil War. Mary Dill was the daughter of Judge Isaiah Dill. When Mary fell gravely ill as a child, Union soldiers stationed in Old Town guarded her gate for quiet and shared their rations to make her warm chicken broth to help her recover. Mary grew up to be a teacher and eventually built this very home. In honor of her legacy, we ask guests to observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM to maintain the peace she so cherished.

Prime Walkability
Leave the car behind! You are steps away from:
Honest Coffee & Moon Bakeshop (3-min walk)
The Garage at Clinton Row (5-min walk)
Big Spring International Park (8-min walk)
Courthouse Square Dining (8-min walk)

Guest Access
You have full private access to the 403 side of the home via your own private arched entrance and dedicated off-street parking for a small to midsize vehicle in the driveway to the left of 403. Street parking is also available directly in front of the unit and along Clinton Ave.
