About the host
Hosted by Paul
Aloha, I’m Paul, and along with my wife Maui, we’re the founders of Koala Ohana.
Koala Escapes was created to offer comfortable, thoughtfully designed stays in places we truly love — spaces that feel easy to settle into whether you’re visiting for a getaway, a special occasion, or simply some time to unwind.
Our homes are prepared with care and attention to detail, focusing on comfort, cleanliness, and a smooth, stress-free experience from booking through checkout.
In St. Albans, our properties are part of the Champlain Collection by Koala Escapes, featuring both elevated bluff views and waterfront stays along Lake Champlain — each offering its own unique way to experience the area.
When you stay with us, you’re not just booking a place — you’re part of the Koala Ohana. It’s about creating a sense of comfort, connection, and a stay you’ll want to come back to.
Why they chose this property
This location is personal. It’s where I grew up, so this area has always felt like home. Coming back to it now, it’s easy to see why — there’s something about this part of Lake Champlain that just sticks with you.
Each property offers a different way to experience the lake. From elevated bluff views to quiet waterfront coves, this area provides a mix of perspectives that you don’t often find in one place. Mornings and evenings here both have their own character — whether it’s sunrise over the water or sunsets across the Adirondacks.
At the same time, you’re close to everything that makes this area special. Kill Kare State Park, Burton Island, and downtown St. Albans are all just a short drive away, offering a balance of peaceful lake life and easy access to explore.
For me, choosing this neighborhood wasn’t just about location — it was about sharing a place that has meant something for a long time. It’s a setting that feels calm, familiar, and worth experiencing, whether it’s your first visit or one of many.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property stand out is the setting — and the story behind it.
Located along a quiet stretch of Champlain Cove, this home offers a true waterfront experience with easy access to the lake and beautiful sunset views across the Adirondack Mountains. It’s a place where the pace naturally slows, whether you’re sitting by the water, heading out for a swim, or simply enjoying the calm surroundings.
What makes this home especially meaningful is that it was originally built by my parents. It’s a place that has been part of our family for years, and sharing it now is something that truly matters to us. It became the first of our Koala Keiki Homes — properties with personal history that we’re proud to share with guests.
The experience here is different from our Bluff property nearby. Instead of elevated views, you’re right at the water’s edge, with direct access and a more connected lakefront feel.
This isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place with history, connection, and a setting that invites you to relax and enjoy the moment.
