Welcome to Firefly Point. A spacious, secluded lakefront home
Escape to Firefly Point.
A spacious, private oasis on the shores of Cobbs Creek Reservoir just an hour from Richmond and only 45 minutes from Short Pump and Charlottesville.
This deep, clear, 1200 acre lake is not open to the public yet, so you'll enjoy an unmatched level of serenity during your stay. You'll only see another person if you bring them with you!
Enjoy stargazing with no light pollution, crystal clear lake water, and unmatched bird and nature watching.
The space Escape to Firefly Point-- a luxury lakefront home plus 25 acres on the shores of Cobbs Creek Reservoir. Virginia's newest lake is 1200 acres, and features crystal clear waters. Our property has 1/2 mile of shoreline plus a fully renovated upscale barn gathering space.
Designed for long stays, this all-brick 5000+ square foot home features a gourmet kitchen, 2 gas fireplaces and plenty of space for multiple families, small groups, or a girls or guys weekend.
The property is large and uncluttered. Enjoy private morning runs, bike rides along the private road or hikes through the woods and along the lake shore.
THE HOUSE Well-appointed bedrooms with lake and distant mountain views. There are two queen and two king bedrooms, plus a bunk room with four twin beds. The house is large and there's plenty of space to spread out. There are also unlimited spaces to tent camp on the property if you have outdoors lovers in your group.
THE BARN: Just a short 5 minute walk away or a quick drive around Firefly Cove gets you to our barn which overlooks the lake. It's perfect spot for sunrise yoga or sipping cocktails and playing games at sunset. A new concrete floor, lighting, and fans plus reclaimed fence-wood siding on the interior makes a perfect space to make memories.
RURAL LIFE:
While you are truly "away from it all" here in Cumberland county, there are several nearby wineries: Rassawek, Byrd Cellars, and Elk Island Winery. James River access is close by and it's a short drive to Lickinghole Creek craft brewery or Scottsville for tubing or boating trips.
Firefly Point is designed for quiet relaxation and an escape from hectic city/suburb life. Plan to cook your meals at the house either in the gourmet kitchen on the Blackstone grill on the deck as there are no nearby restaurants. A full-service grocery store is just 25 minutes away.
You are away from it all at Firefly Point but screaming fast high-speed internet means you can stream movies with ease or "work from home" with a view of the lake.
We are in the country, so you may hear sounds of hunting in the distance-- there will be no hunting on our property during your stay.
We maintain a professional pest control program; however occasional insects are a natural part of this pristine rural environment.

About the host
Hosted by andrew freiden
We are Jaime and Andrew and welcome to our home in beautiful Virginia. We hope you love this house, the property, and the dark skies as much as we do!
We know it's important to have a comfortable, welcoming space to unwind when you are away from home and we'll do everything possible to make sure you have a great stay.
Why they chose this property
"Virgil Hazelett Reservoir at Cobbs Creek" is the technical name but the neighbors call it Cobbs Creek Reservoir. This is the only occupied home on the reservoir. We love our neighbors but we also love being able to walk along the lake in peace and quiet and enjoy the jet black night sky. You'll see and hear birds galore when you are outside.
What makes this property unique
There's nothing like this anywhere around. The other Virginia lakes are packed full of houses. At for now, this 1200 acre lake feels private!
