About this property
Holiday house Spittal an der Drau for 1 - 10 persons with 5 bedrooms - Holiday house
ED Refnr. 3031685
We offer a simple but very functional Carinthian house with an eat-in kitchen that was rarely designed in this way at the time and an exceptionally spacious living room with an open fireplace, which is connected to the large south-facing terrace by two wide patio doors. On the upper floor are the bedrooms, which have access from all south-facing rooms to an 8 metre long balcony, which enjoys sunshine almost all day long throughout the year. The large corner bedroom in particular is characterised by its special brightness from sunrise into the afternoon thanks to two east- and south-facing windows, and the house benefits from its south-facing slope at the foot of the Wolfsberg, with the terrace and balcony being the sunniest spots. In the afternoon, you can also find both shade and sun on the slope behind the house. We have modified the house for the rental in such a way that the architectural accents have been retained. However, the bathrooms and kitchen have been newly installed and the floor coverings, wall colours and tiles have been newly coordinated, allowing more modern, straightforward elements to be integrated into the character of the house. We hope that you will feel as comfortable as we did when we spent our summer holidays there.
FACILITIESAfter the renovation, our house can accommodate up to 10 guests in five bedrooms. Four bedrooms are on the upper floor, one on the ground floor. In addition to the three large bedrooms on the south side (23, 17 and 18 m²) with double beds (180x200cm), there is a smaller bedroom (10 m²) on both floors, each with a 140cm wide bed, and two shower rooms with WC on the upper floor and a further bathroom with WC on the lower floor. The kitchen offers enough space to cook for ten people. An extra large induction hob, an oven with numerous special functions, a microwave oven and a large double-door fridge should help with this. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the cellar and plenty of storage space for sports and hiking equipment. We want you to feel at home with us, so there are no house rules. However, we ask you to treat our house and the inventory provided with care so that subsequent holidaymakers have the same conditions for a nice holiday as you. You can park your car on the driveway or in the car park opposite the entrance. Our neighbours are very helpful and very familiar with Spittal and its surroundings. If you have any questions about your holiday arrangements, please feel free to contact them, the garden is large and everyone should have fun. All electrical appliances and most of the furnishings are user-friendly and new. If an appliance is defective or a piece of furniture is damaged, please let us know. We will endeavour to rectify the defect as quickly as possible. Please respect the suggested arrival (not from 5pm) and departure times (not after 10am). We need a few hours to prepare the house for the next guests.
ENVIRONMENT Spittal an der Drau is located in Upper Carinthia directly on the Tauern railway line from Salzburg to Villach. You get off at Spittal-Millstättersee railway station if you wish to travel by train. F If you prefer to travel by car, take the A10 Tauern motorway from Salzburg. Spittal's landmark is Porcia Castle, one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles north of the Alps. However, the name of the town of Spittal goes back to the so-called Spittl, a nursing home founded in 1191 by Count Otto II von Ortenburg and his brother. Since then, Spittal has had a thoroughly varied history and is the capital of Austria's second largest district, Spittal, which lies on the southern slope of the Wolfsberg, which borders the Drau Valley from the north and separates it from Lake Millstättersee. To the south of the Drau lies the Goldeck, the 2139m high local mountain of Spittal. In winter, the ski area offers skiing in the sun, in summer it is a beautiful starting point for hikes and the Peintenstraße is a dead end on the eastern bank of the Lieser. There is no through traffic and no noise pollution from the main road west of the Lieser, just the babbling of the Lieser river. Here you have the peace and quiet you need to switch off. There is plenty to do in and around Spittal. Lake Millstätter See is close by and can be reached quickly by car or on foot, while the Goldeck on the south side of the Drau is accessible by cable car. The skiing and hiking areas of Katschberg, Innerkrems, Kleinkirchheim, St. Oswald and Mallnitz are all within a radius of 30-45 minutes, as are other lakes such as Wörthersee, Weißensee, Ossiachersee, Faaker See and Keutschacher See, as well as several larger towns such as Villach, Klagenfurt, Tarvis (IT) and Hermagor. In terms of culture, Spittal offers a highlight of the Carinthian cultural programme every summer with the Porcia Comedy Festival, but the Carinthian Summer in Ossiach and Villach, the Wörthersee Classics Festival in Klagenfurt and the Millstatt Guitar Festival are also highly regarded.
SPECIAL FEATURESA city map and some tips on local shopping facilities and the local gastronomy (including take-away) are available on the kitchen table. The main square can be reached on foot in 10 minutes, shopping centres with plenty of parking spaces can be found along the main road to Villach.
