About this property

The Breakaway at Long Lake! Covered Patio, Pontoon Boat, Game Room & Bunk House

The Breakaway at Long Lake! Game Room, Bunkie, Pontoon Rental

Welcome to The Breakaway at Long Lake — our cozy little slice of “Up North” in Northern Michigan. Set on a 1-acre lot with 100 feet of private lakefront, this lakefront cottage includes a main house, separate bunkie, game room, dock, and space for up to 11 guests.

Long Lake is a beautiful 295-acre all-sports lake known for its clear water, sandy bottom, great fishing, and quieter pace that makes it easy to slow down and relax. Whether your perfect vacation involves coffee on the deck, long lake days with the kids, kayaking at sunrise, or evenings around the firepit, we hope this becomes one of those places your family talks about long after vacation ends.

Pontoon boat rental available separately.

The Cottage

The main cottage has been recently updated while still keeping that cozy Up North vibe with warm wood beams, comfortable gathering spaces, and lake views from most rooms.

The fully stocked kitchen includes a dishwasher, cookware, place settings for 12, and everything you need for family meals, pancake breakfasts, slow coffee mornings, and easy dinners after a full day on the lake.

The main cottage and bunkie both have air conditioning for comfortable summer stays. The living room is bright and comfortable with lake views and extra sleeping space with a twin sleeper chair. TVs are located in all main house bedrooms, and includes Wi-Fi. Bedrooms also include blackout window coverings because nobody wants the sun waking them up at 5:30am on vacation.

The Bunk House (“Bunkie”)

The bunkie is usually the first place claimed by kids and teens. It’s separate from the main cottage — only about 50 feet away — which gives everyone a little extra space and privacy while still being close by.

It is climate-controlled and sleeps up to 4 guests with two twin bunk beds, games table, shelving, and a cozy hangout space for kids and teens.

The Game Room (“The Barn”)

Perfect for rainy days, evening tournaments, or getting out of the sun for a bit, the game room includes air hockey, foosball, a mini pool table, and lawn games.

Outdoor Living

Most days here are spent outside.

The oversized covered patio tends to become everyone’s favorite gathering spot for outdoor dinners, morning coffee, or relaxing around the fire table after a day on the water.

Outside you’ll also find a brand new dock, sandy-bottom swimming area, covered outdoor dining space, lakeside firepit, BBQ grill, 2 kayaks, 1 paddleboard, and a mudroom for towels, lake gear, and sandy feet.

About Long Lake

Long Lake is home to Bluegill, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Yellow Perch, making it a favorite Northern Michigan fishing lake for both casual and experienced anglers.

Nearby day trips include Alpena, Atlanta, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Thunder Bay Resort elk viewing tours in Hillman, and Ocqueoc Falls.

The area also has hundreds of miles of biking, hiking, ORV, and snowmobile trails including the North Eastern State Trail and North Central State Trail.

We grew up vacationing Up North and always dreamed of owning a place on the water to share with family and friends. The Breakaway is our cozy little slice of lake life, and we’re so excited to share it with others looking to slow down, relax, and make memories together. The area reminds us of home where our kids grew up in Ontario and we fell in love with it.
