Welcome to The May House! A 1909 Cape Cod in the heart of Chagrin Falls that pairs original character with modern comfort. We're a local family, and we'd love to host you.
Step out the front door and you're a short walk from Main Street: coffee from a local roaster, dinner at the village's best tables, the falls themselves, and the kind of stroll that makes you wish you lived here. Come back to a covered patio, gas grill, and private hot tub. Small by design, finished with care, and a location you can't beat.
Inside:
Bright rooms, generous natural light, quality furnishings throughout. Two bedrooms and two full bathrooms comfortably sleep four guests. One bedroom features a king bed, the other a queen, both dressed with quality bedding. With two full baths, so nobody's waiting their turn in the morning.
The living space centers on a comfortable sectional, an easy place to gather, stream a movie, or settle in with a book. Smart TVs and high-speed WiFi keep you connected if you need it. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and cookware for everything from morning coffee to a full dinner together, including a Nespresso machine for espresso lovers and a standard drip coffee maker for everyone else. Central air conditioning and heating keep the home comfortable in every season.
Outside:
Out front, a porch swing invites you to slow down. Out back, a fully fenced private yard with covered seating, a new Weber gas grill ready for a backyard dinner, and the highlight, a Hot Springs salt water hot tub. The salt water system is gentler on skin than traditional chlorine, and there's no better way to end a day of exploring than a soak under the stars.
Small by design, easy to settle into, and finished to a standard we're genuinely proud of. We affectionately call her "The May."
The neighborhood:
The May House sits in the heart of Chagrin Falls, one of Northeast Ohio's most beloved villages, and the location is genuinely the headline. From the front door, it's a short, flat walk to Main Street, where you'll find independent shops, art galleries, a roster of excellent restaurants, coffee, ice cream, and the village's namesake waterfall tumbling right through the center of town. Few vacation rentals let you leave the car parked and simply walk to dinner. This is one of them.
Riverside Park and the river paths are close by for a quiet morning stroll, and the Cleveland Metroparks' North and South Chagrin Reservations put miles of hiking and biking trails within easy reach. The Chagrin Valley is dotted with wineries and breweries, and the village calendar stays full year-round: summer concerts, the fall documentary film festival, holiday lighting, year-round arts and glassblowing at the Valley Art Center, and the long-running Blossom Time festival over Memorial Day weekend.
When you want a bigger day out, downtown Cleveland is about 30 minutes away, with major-league sports, world-class museums, the orchestra, theaters, and the lakefront, close enough for an easy day trip with the calm of the village waiting when you return. Cleveland Hopkins airport is a similar drive.
Chagrin Falls has a way of surprising people. Most guests arrive planning to use it as a base, and end up wishing they'd booked longer just to enjoy the village itself.
What to expect from us:
We're a local family and live just a short drive from The May. While we won't be at the house during your stay (it's yours from check-in to check-out), we're easy to reach throughout. All communication runs through the VRBO app, which keeps everything organized and lets us respond quickly. Whether you have a question about the home, want a recommendation for dinner, or run into anything that needs our attention, just send a message and we'll get back to you promptly. Check-in is contactless via a smart lock, so you can arrive on your own schedule.
Good to know:
The May House sits in a friendly residential neighborhood with close neighbors, so we ask that guests observe quiet hours between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM and treat the home and street with the same care you would your own. Off-street parking fits three vehicles in the driveway. Please refrain from parking on the street overnight in keeping with the neighborhood.
For security, there is a single exterior camera at the front of the home, monitoring the driveway and front entrance. There are no cameras inside the home, and none in the backyard, on the patio, or near the hot tub. Your privacy in those spaces is complete.
The Hot Springs hot tub is tested and serviced regularly. We'll share simple guidance for safe use before your arrival.
This is a historic 1909 home. It's been fully updated, but like all homes of its era it has a few charming quirks. We think they're part of its character.
Please note the basement is not part of the rental, as it's kept locked for owner storage. Everything you'll need for your stay is on the main living floors. Trash and recycling are collected on Thursdays. Check-in is contactless via a smart lock, and we'll send your personal entry code before arrival.
