About this property

Meadow Lake Roadhouse

Meadow Lake Roadhouse is an historic, fully-restored 1,500 square foot home.

The Meadow Lake Roadhouse was originally built in 1864, during the Cariboo Gold Rush, by a Mexican named Rafael Valenzuela. The creek that runs through the ranch is named after him, as is a nearby lake, just north of the ranch.

The kitchen is well equipped with dishes and cookware. There is ample preparation, cook, and fridge space. It is equipped with a modern cooktop with convection oven and a vintage range.

The kitchen also serves as the indoor dining area of this home. It features a dining table and seats for four.

The deck off the kitchen has a barbecue.

The living room features a comfortable couch and a selection of chairs set around a cast-iron wood-stove.

The couch pulls out to a double bed, for groups needing more additional sleeping spots.

There is a TV with VHS and DVD players. A selection of movies, as well as books, can be found in the house library and have been provided for guest entertainment.

Winter Wonderland Christmas!

Loved the rustic aspic of the house. Met all necessary needs and the place was cozy even with the below freezing temperatures outside (wish the wood stove had a glass front to make keeping the fire going easier visually :). Would also be a great location in the summer for a getaway.

Great spot for a winter vacation

We loved this property and would definitely go back! The cabin was nicer than I expected and very clean. Great snowmobiling nearby and the kids had fun in the snow on the property itself and tobogganing across the street. Glad we brought our own kleenex because there is none provided! The one downside is that there was no wifi as listed in the property description. There were some attempts to fix it but it was hard to tell what was going on. It wasn't a huge deal except had we known there was no wifi we have come more prepared with more stuff pre-downloaded (we were there for 10 days) like tv shows and movies for the kids. Luckily cell service there is great, but we ran through 40 GB of data. I had to take a course one day and they let me into another property so that I could run it on wifi which was appreciated but it was only a few hours out of the 10 days. Just prepare to not have wifi if you're going, and it's no big deal if it's not working.

We're glad you loved your stay Lisa. We apologize for the Wi-fi meltdown...our repeater chose Christmas to fail, and we were not able to acquire replacement equipment over the holiday. We did our best to cobble together some service. You'll be pleased to know that the Wifi has since been restored to the Roadhouse, and we have even pre-ordered a new Starlink system (Elon Musk's latest venture), which should provide much higher bandwidth than our current rural system allows. We hope to see you in the future to test it out!
