Hohe Düne is a district of Rostock and a state-recognized Baltic Sea resort. The town got its name from the dune, which once lay about one kilometer east of the estuary of the Warnow River. In the surrounding area, there are several shops for daily needs, restaurants, and a snack bar on the beach.

Continue along the coastal road towards Warnemünde (ferry connection) and enjoy the maritime atmosphere along the Alter Strom or around the lighthouse square. A city tour of Rostock or a day at the zoo are also recommended. Among polar bears and penguins, lions and cheetahs, you can discover some of Germany's most beautiful animal enclosures. A highlight, especially if you're traveling with children, is a visit to Karl's Adventure Farm in Rövershagen.
