Tucked at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, this two-bedroom, two-bath Volcano cottage sleeps six and puts Kilauea and the park just minutes away. Volcano Golf Course is less than a mile from home for anyone who wants a fairway day between hikes. Back at the cottage, cook in the full eat-in kitchen, warm up by the gas fireplace on a misty evening, and use the private washer and dryer to reset for tomorrow's trail. Please note that the home uses a water catchment system, a common feature in the area, and it does not have air conditioning. This is a genuine Big Island change of scenery for a family or friends who would rather wake up near lava fields and tree ferns than a resort strip.



The Space:

The cottage has the comforting feel of a country home, with an eat-in kitchen for pancakes before the park and a bright living area with a TV and gas fireplace for cooler Volcano evenings. Two bedrooms and two baths sleep up to six, while fast internet and a private washer and dryer make it simple to stay awhile. The weather here is cooler and wetter than the Kona side, which is exactly why the tree ferns, mossy roads, and quiet evenings feel so different. It is a nature-first base for families and couples who want the island's volcanic landscape up close.



Getting Around:

Hilo International Airport is about 45 minutes away, an easy drive through lush upcountry forest. A rental car is a must for exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and reaching Hilo's beaches, shopping, and restaurants. Volcano village itself is small and walkable for a few local shops and cafes. Parking is generally simple, available on site or along quiet residential streets.

Very nice rental close to the park. Clean and quiet.One small detail to be aware of, the "know before you go" information requests that visitors take garbage to a nearby transfer station as they leave. Not a problem. But the station will be closed if visitors leave on a Sunday.

Cozy

I loved the quietness. It was a little staycation that we needed. The pull out couch was hard and could feel the metal through the mattress but that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves.

Great location near the golf course and Volcano National Park!

This place was a great location located just three minutes up the road from the golf course and winery in the Volcano area and five minutes from the national park entrance. Note to bring drinkable water with you or buy some in Volcano village (also close by). Great neighborhood.

Peaceful setting

This property was very clean, comfortable, and peaceful. My husband has severe asthma, but we noticed no hint of mold problems that a few other reviewers had mentioned. We plan to stay here again.

We like being in the Volcano Golf Course Subdivision. Just wish there was a BBQ & some staples in the kitchen like salt, pepper, Ketchup, Olive oil, stuff like that. Also better T/P and Kleenex.

Nice Cottage to rent in Volcano

We really liked the cottage and it was very nicely decorated. It was a little cold in the winter mornings and a bit difficult to turn the gas fireplace on. There were space heaters.

Great Location

We loved the Volcano cottage. It was very spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and there were blankets to keep you warm in cooler temperatures. We sat outside on the porch to drink our coffee and to eat dinner. It was very peaceful. The cottage is located so close to the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, it was easy to go see the lava at night because you have such an easy drive back.

The location was perfect, the house was super clean. Doesn’t make sense for guests to have to deal with disposal of their garbage when the transfer station is only open 3 days a week 🤷🏽‍♂️😡

Great House!

This home was perfect for our group of 6. Located in a safe, quiet cul-de-sac. The Volcano Winery is a 10 min walk or 3 min drive away. Volcano National Park entrance is a 5 min drive. We could see the active lava flow glow from the front lanai. The comfortable house has a fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms. We hope to return soon!

PERFECT location for exploring the National Park

Check in process was flawless. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of extra blankets are provided as it gets chilly at night. Very safe and quiet neighborhood- 2 miles from Hawaii Volcanoes NP!! Made for a perfect location for heading to the park at nighttime. Also close to Punalu'u Beach and beaches around Hilo (we loved Carlsmith Beach Park)! Tip: Pick up groceries in Hilo, there aren't many stores/food options in Volcano.

Volcano Home

Great location, easy to find, nice and comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood, minutes away from Volcanoes National park. Lots of warm blankets and heaters for the cold nights (mid 50s F). Kitchen is sufficiently stocked if you decide to cook while you are there. You will need to bring your basics (salt, pepper, oil, etc.). I'd recommend grocery shopping in Hilo before heading in. It took us about 50 minutes to/from Hilo. There are starter soaps and shampoo, but if you're staying longer than a weekend, you'll probably want to bring your own (I always do anyway). I'd recommend this home and would stay here again.
