This place is such a little gem for anyone who likes fairy tales, magic or cozy cottages. It's perfect for a small family, especially with kids ages 8. We definitely had so much to do both in exploring Hattiesburg *and* the cottage. The host was wondering and made sure we had everything we needed. The whole family agrees 10/10, we can't wait to come back!

Host profile image
We’re a family-run business that loves creating memorable experiences. Across the street, we own and operate the historic Ross Mansion Bed & Breakfast and host immersive events in its restored carriage house. After bringing fairy tales to life through our original musical, In Wonderland, we dreamed of creating a place where families could step into a story of their own.

With the help of our parents and grandfather, we transformed this little cottage into a whimsical retreat filled with hand-painted murals, hidden details, and nods to classic fairy tales. We hope every guest—young and young at heart—leaves with memories that last long after their stay.

Why they chose this property

The Storybook Cottage is located in one of Hattiesburg’s historic neighborhoods, just minutes from downtown shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and local attractions. We love that guests can enjoy the charm of a quiet neighborhood while still being close to everything the city has to offer.

The cottage also sits directly across the street from the Ross Mansion, making it easy to join us for one of our immersive events, house tours, or seasonal experiences during your visit.

What makes this property unique

The Storybook Cottage is more than a place to stay—it’s an experience. Every room is inspired by classic fairy tales, with hand-painted murals, custom décor, and magical details waiting to be discovered. Families can enjoy a storybook scavenger hunt throughout the cottage, making the stay interactive for guests of all ages.

Unlike a typical vacation rental, the cottage is part of our family’s larger vision of creating immersive experiences. Whether you’re relaxing beneath a woodland mural, discovering hidden fairy tale references, or exploring the historic Ross Mansion across the street, we hope your stay feels like stepping into the pages of a favorite story.
