My stay at BayhouseThis is an amazing place! This is the first time I have ever stayed so close to the water, other than being on a boat, it is situated on the shore of the San Francisco Bay. I spoke to the owner, they said this is the first home built in this neighborhood on this section of the shoreline. It dates from around 1900. The neighborhood is called Chicken point because of the poultry businesses from the Petaluma area would ship Chickens and eggs to San Francisco from this beach area prior to the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge which is less than a 20 minute drive away. You can see the top of Sutro Tower in San Francisco to the south if you scan the bay hills skyline. Looking out under the San Rafael bridge you can see the next Oakland San Francisco bay bridge in the distance. It turns out that the islands are a National Bird sanctuary called the Marin Islands.There is a shipping channel about a mile out into the bay, so you might see ferry boats, large ships and folks doing wind surfing, kayaking, fishing, and other boating activities.I spent the better part of of a day and evening simply staring out the window at the sights, it was like watching a nature video.There is Andy’s neighborhood market about 1/2 mile away.
