About this property
Cottage 'Gite L'hermine' with Private Terrace, Shared Garden and Wi-Fi
Today, the ermine is one of Brittany's strongest symbols, but it is also steeped in history. The ermine has been the official symbol of the Dukes of Brittany since 1381, and became the emblem of Jean IV de Montfort, who created the Order of the Knighthood of the Ermine.
This order of 25 knights was abolished when Brittany was annexed by Charles VIII, King of France.
According to legend, one winter's day, Duchess Anne de Bretagne was out riding her horse when she witnessed hunters stalking an ermine.
The white-furred animal found itself cornered in a muddy pond, and the ermine preferred to face the hunters and death rather than soil its noble white coat. The duchess then obtained the ermine's pardon, and thus was born the emblem and motto of Brittany: "Kentoc'h mervel eget bezan saotred" (rather death than defilement).
Enjoy this fabulous accommodation with your family, and look forward to some good times ahead. Much appreciated by four friends or a family of parents and two children.
Within a short radius, you can enjoy the sea, countryside, forest and even small mountains. Just 8 km away, you can enjoy fishing on the Aulne, one of the most popular rivers for salmon. All the beaches in the Bay of Douarnenez are flat with fine sand. The main beaches are : Pentrez (char à voile), Lestrevet, Sainte-Anne La Palud, Kervel, Kervigen, Porz ar Vag, Douarnenez. Go paragliding on the Menez-Hom mountain. You can also play golf.
