Ferienwohnung West - Ferienhof Tannen in Thunum bei Bensersiel
Size: approx. 50 square metres; living room with open kitchen, bedroom, children’s room, second separate children’s room, bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet; upper floor; Wi-Fi available; ideal for 2 to 4 people plus one toddler.
Our “Ferienhof Tannen,” featuring three comfortable and fully equipped holiday apartments, is an actively operated, authentic East Frisian farm with a dairy herd. The farm is located in the village of Thunum, in the immediate vicinity of the North Sea spa town of Esens-Bensersiel on the East Frisian North Sea coast, right next to the unique natural wonder “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park,” a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009. Two to four people, plus an additional toddler, will find wonderful conditions for a relaxing holiday on the North Sea here, with approximately 50, 45, and 35 square metres of space on the vast farm property. The holiday apartments feature a beautiful, sheltered terrace for relaxing, enjoying breakfast outdoors, or, for example, hosting a barbecue, as well as the adjoining very large garden. The holiday apartments are very well equipped; for example, the fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and microwave. A washing machine and dryer are available for shared use. Thunum is a small, idyllic farming village whose hamlets and farms are spread out over a wide area; nevertheless, you can reach the coast—just 7 kilometres away—in about ten minutes by car. Massage and spa treatments are available in Esens. Our working farm is home to cows, cattle, bulls, calves, chickens, and cats—and, of course, a few people. Our guests are, of course, welcome to watch the milking and feeding. For certain tasks, children are allowed to ride along on the tractor. Our child-friendly farm features a terrace, a large playground, and a log cabin—a grill is available upon request. A ping-pong table and a volleyball net are at your disposal. Thanks to Thunum’s excellent transport connections, you can easily reach all the many destinations and attractions that East Frisia has to offer. A bike ride along the East Frisia Hiking Trail is the healthiest way to reach the coast and the dike, passing through an area rich in interesting flora and fauna. For children, there’s the “Klabautermann” indoor play park in the old town of Esens; for adults, there’s a wide range of shopping and recreational options. The North Sea spa town of Bensersiel, located right nearby, has plenty to offer for sports, recreation, and play—for example, the Langeoog harbour, the beach, the beach portal with the covered play area “Bennis Abenteuerland,” swimming pools, tennis courts, surfing spots along the dike, fitness facilities, beach volleyball, fishing opportunities, and much more. Speaking of swimming pools: While in Bensersiel, don’t miss a visit to the seawater wave pool with its giant slide and the “Sonneninsel” North Sea thermal spa, a modern, heated fun and adventure pool featuring a large indoor viewing slide, as well as a modern wellness, sauna, and fitness centre for adults! Also very close by is the North Sea spa town “Neuharlingersiel.” Neuharlingersiel is a 300-year-old fishing village with an active fleet of crab boats. In the beautiful historic fishing harbour, East Frisian fishing is still actively practised today by many crab boats. There’s a wide range of tourist attractions for your holiday: A beach with the fantastic “Platschi” water play area, the new, modern “BadeWerk” spa and wellness facility with a seawater indoor pool and sauna area, as well as a spa house, a ballroom, an information centre with the “Leuchttürmchen” children’s playhouse, the Sielhof as the “Haus des Gastes,” green spaces, events, a lovingly maintained historic harbour, and much more. And don’t forget to take your children to visit the petting zoo—extremely popular with the little ones—in the old and cosy village of Warfendorf Werdum! Take a boat trip to the East Frisian Islands or, for example, explore beautiful old chieftain settlements such as Dornum, Greetsiel, or Lütetsburg with their associated castles and palaces. Other worthwhile destinations include the many mills, museums, exhibitions, and other cultural highlights, as well as the diverse wildlife found in East Frisia’s geologically unique combination of marshes, geest, and moors. And don’t forget the “Ewige Meer” (Eternal Sea), a nature reserve right in our area featuring a moor lake and a unique array of flora and fauna. You should also take the time to “get lost” in the friendly and cosy towns of East Frisia—for example, Aurich and Jever are not far away. A special and rich artistic treat is the Nannen Museum in Emden, founded by Henri Nannen, the founder of “Stern” magazine. Great shopping, plenty of events, fantastic dining options, and other local attractions will round out your itinerary.
