2 Br/1 Ba, 2 Bikes-Fish Poles-Snorkel Gear-Private Lounges, AC/Fans, BBQ, DVD Wi

This is a 2nd floor balcony condo located in Cocomarindo 1/2 mile from downtown Coco on the road to Ocotal with giant near full wall mirrors in the living room and master bedroom. All rooms have separate air conditioning system and ceiling fans. There are screens on all of the windows. No one is above you to make noise walking around or sliding chairs in the middle of the night. No one walking by your door gawking inside your condo since you will be one flight up on a balcony overlooking the pool. Two bicycles with locks are included so you have transportation to and from town for grocery shopping. Two private lounges for use in the pool area so you are not sharing public greasy lounges. Beach towels are included as well as 3 fishing poles and tons of hooks, lures, and accessories, plus fins and masks for snorkeling, air mattresses for pool, frisbees, a coffee maker, rice maker, blender, coffee bean grinder for fresh coffee, security safe for storing valuables, all included. This is only condo with such amenities right in front of the largest pool in the area. You have everything you need here at your fingertips.

Master bedroom has a queen bed with memory foam top. Lamp stands and lamps are on either side of the bed. There are separate ceiling fans and air conditioning units in the master bedroom, guest room which has two twin beds, and main living area.

The balcony has 4 chairs, a table, and small circular table for guests. Upstairs balconies are substantially larger than downstairs units that don't have the privacy with people walking by, and the greater likelihood of something you may not want entering your dwelling (occasional iguana, visiting cat, or insects).

The beach is physically just a block away although the walk there is circular amounting to a couple blocks walk.

Grocery stores and restaurants are all within a mile and easy to get to by bicycle or walking. Taxi is only $3 to town.

Cocomarindo condo is a gated community with 24 hour security and guards at the entrance screening all visitors entering the complex.

Our stay review is based on many years traveling to Costa Rica, and comparing similar type condos. This condo is constructed basically the same, with tile floors and ceiling fans in every room. The ceiling fan in the living room in in-operable. The 2 bikes were unrideable, and the kitchen is upfitted with the old aluminum pots and pans, half of them warped, and no real glassware to speak of. Plastic bowls and cups for daily use, really? A workable kitchen is imperative when traveling for extended periods of time. This condo could use a make-over.

The condo is about 5 minutes from the beach and a friendly dive bar on the beach. We found walking to down town easiest via the beach rather along the road. The condo was clean compact with great air conditioning and wifi. The property staff were very friendly but had no English. The swimming pool was refreshing and pretty empty. Would definitely stay here again.

Love this location and pool. Have stayed 4 times. 3 times in this unit. Friendly residents and renters alike. Short walk to beach. Plenty of restaurants and bars etc.

Comfy and secure

Comfortable bed, great AC. Afternoon sun on a balcony that overlooks the pool. Small grocers, shops and restaurants nearby. Beach and town within easy walking distance. Neighborhood is sketchy but I never felt threatened or unsafe. Local folks are very friendly.

This was a nice place for us to stay. The amenities were really great for us and we used the bikes a lot to get into town and to the beach. It was a little further to town that we expected but with the bikes, it was fine. Overall, good stay!

Great place! Close to Downtown

Cute place ! Close to downtown ! Walking distance or simple bike ride with bikes provided. This place was perfect for us! The snorkel gear was a great asset for us to use at the beaches - we also had beach pads and fins that my husband and son enjoyed!!! Owners also provided fishing pools (which we didn’t get a chance to use ) but great if you love fishing and have more time to spend there than we did. Laundry on site and AC was great to have and use while we were relaxing at the property. Pool is steps away (literally) usually had it to ourselves after 5pm. Communication with Stan was great (always replied and accommodated as much as possible)

Nice, secure space. The beds are great and everyone slept well. The property is really nicely maintained and Maria was awesome at providing support when needed. This was our first trip to CR so Cocomarindo was a great entry place to stay. The residents of Playas del Coco are great as well. Highly recommend coordinating trips through FranktheTank on Facebook. We did LaLeona Falls and a fishing/snorkel trip through him. Also, an ATV ride with CocoLoco was so fun.

Nice Location

The location was very nice and the pool as well. We found the couch (terrible) and beds to be very uncomfortable and we did not have a place to sit and relax from the sun. There property rules were a bit excessive and had I seen them prior would likely have booked elsewhere. The people here are lovely and the security was amazing - we liked her so much! Overall was a nice stay but the room lacked any comfort so was difficult to enjoy the property.

Hidden condo oasis

Didn't quite know what we were getting in for, but hidden behind the well-guarded gates is a magical Disney-like oasis of fun loving foreigners from all stretched of the world! Super close to the beach, we rented a bicycle for 2 from in town, and used the one that came with the place, to pedal over to the beach, or eat at the local soda right there on the beach. Also peddled over to playa Ocotal, which is also magical. Took a taxi to playa Hermosa to gather tiny shells, as well as to the Congo trails animal rescue(only$10/ person). Staying here you experience Playa del Coco as an interesting blend of the "haves" and "have nots"

The Good, The Bad , and the Ugly

This condo does have a comfortable bed, good A/C, internet and t.v. The pool is great but you can’t eat or drink at the swim- up area. The rental requires a lot of upgrading. The BBQ, both bikes and keyless entrance door locks were broken and unusable. The hide a bed couch was broken and you couldn’t even sit on it. The rental was dirty inside and ants and geckos over ran the unit. The balcony is shared with another unit therefore absolutely no privacy. We will not stay here again.

The outer appearance is a little sketchy but once inside Cocomarindo is nice.

My husband, son and I were there for 14 days. We were immediately disappointed due to the location, DONT GO BY THE DOT ON THE MAP!! We went with two other families who were completely across town, when we booked it we all tried to be in the same area, didn’t happen! Thank heaven the condo came with bikes, they were a life saver! We did have to replace a tube on my husband’s bike and the chain on the red bike kept falling off, irritating but doable. In a previous review I read about ants and the the cause was not being clean or leaving food out, not true. We cooked two meals in the condo and still had about a dozen ants, mainly in the bathroom though. Not a huge deal, the bugs that got me are these tiny bugs that were all over the table and on the wall scurrying from the light switch to the window. I finally got fed up with them and got some bug spray out of the closet. We had a hard time sitting at the table without them climbing on your hands! The laundry facility was fine except you are on your own trying to figure out how to use the card. We were given 3 loads on the card and for 12 days that was not enough! But the frustrating part was when we went to try to load the card with more points we learned that you have to go downtown someplace and get points, not convenient nor is that information mentioned anywhere. The other tenants and residents there were very friendly and so helpful. We would of been in a world of hurt without Victor, one of the guards. He was a life saver. Not a bad place to stay just frustrating with where we thought the location was,

Coco Bay stay

Property and pool very nice. Room was average and we had to raid the place due to ants in the kitchen and 2nd bedroom. We did cook a nice steak on the grill one night and enjoyed the patio. Very close to grocery store and cab service was very safe and friendly. Front office staff super helpful as well.

2nd stay at Cocomarindo in the same unit #72. Was as in 2019. Everything we needed. Nice people.

Largest pool in Coco. Short walk to downtown via the beach, longer by road. Very close to Liberia Airport. Plenty of great restaurants, sodas, and markets. Our host was very helpful and the others in the complex friendly.

Great Place!

We enjoyed our stay at Cocomarindo. The condo was as described, clean and roomy enough for two of us. It might get a little cramped for two couples, but a family would do fine. Most of the neighbors were friendly and helpful when we had questions. We would definitely stay again if we come back to Coco.

I have been coming to Costa Rica since 1965 when I was in college. In 2004 I decided to purchase a upper condo in the newest development in planning in Coco at the time, Cocomarindo. It took years to complete but was finally finished in 2008. I speak Spanish and welcome guests from anywhere.

Why they chose this property

This gated complex is about as close to the beach as you can get and own property. The state owns the first few hundred meters. Being an upper unit in the complex, it is more quiet, private, and has a prettier view from the balcony. It is the only unit offering the amenities we do: near full wall mirrors in the living room and master bedroom. Not caring to smell the odors of foods cooking we put in vents that exit to the exterior in the kitchen and bathroom, added amenities such as bicycles, snorkeling equipment, air mattresses and frisbies to make your stay more enjoyable.

What makes this property unique

The tropical gardens inside the complex are extremely well groomed and the pool is cleaned every morning and kept clear and balanced chemically so it is seldom if ever cloudy. The complex is well maintained with 24 hour security.
