Why Jane Livingston - Owner chose Port Aransas
When I first visited Port Aransas I knew that I wanted to live there someday. Island Retreat is beachfront has great ocean views. Island Retreat has plenty of room with all kinds of amenities. 2 Pools, Grills, Playground, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis Courts and Shuffleboard.
What makes this Condo unique
The third/top floor has gulf views with a large balcony that spans the living room and dining room. We have maximized our condo to accommodate families so that parents can be together with kids and grandchildren. We are beachfront with an easy walk on the boardwalk over the sand dunes to the flat part of the beach. It is so relaxing to sit on the large balcony for hours watching the waves, reading a book our spending time with friends and family.

Port Aransas Beachfront Property II
We rented two condos that were side-by-side on the beachfront as we were in Port Aransas for our daughter's wedding. The units were very nicely decorated with a large living/dining area. The condos had beds for 12 as stated on vrbo. The view from the third floor was beautiful and it was a very short walk to the beach. There were plenty of towels and bed linens. The kitchen was amply supplied with dishes, pots and pans, and appliances. The elevator to the third floor made loading and unloading luggage much easier. There was a bit of construction going on but it never bothered us. The owner of the two units, Jane Livingston, was very nice and responsive to us both prior to and during our stay. We hope to have a vacation soon where we can stay longer and we will definitely try to return to the same place.
We loved our stay here. 4 adults, 6 kids and an infant and there was plenty of room. Well outfitted kitchen. There was even a high chair for the baby. We loved sitting out on the balcony and catching the sea breeze. Jane was helpful and responsive to any questions that arose.
We are so glad you loved your stay and appreciated our efforts to equip the kitchen and thinking of the little ones. Sitting on the balcony and taking in the sights, sounds and smell of the sea is the best. We look forward to having you as our guests again! Thank you
Perfect beach location
Very quick and easy check in and check out experience. Excellent location - beach view. Community pool was a refreshing amenity!
Thank you for your review and we agree that is the Perfect Beach location! We hope you return again! Thank you, Jane
The worst vacation rental experience we have had!
We were very unhappy with the stay. It was a construction zone! Not safe for kids or our car! We had to sign a form saying that the property was not at fault if the construction workers damaged our vehicle! No walkways to dune bridge just very tall grass with lots of fire ants and possibly rattlesnakes! Not safe for children even with shoes! The bridge should be condemned ! It’s falling apart and unsafe ! Elevator never worked! So climbed up 3 flights of stairs. I would have never booked this place if I had been advised that the possibility of no water or power because of construction but no the owner told me after we paid in full and then she would not refund the booking. And the fact you wanted me to wash and dry all the bath towels before we checked out! or pay a very high extra fee! This was told after paying in full and the morning of check in. I have never been asked to do this! And we had already paid a cleaning fee. We arrived and dishwasher was full of dishes! Window blind broken, bedding stained. Marks all over walls and the worst cheap plastic patio furniture ever. Paying a a very high security deposit you would think your getting a better quality place but your not. Bedding in master is horrible too. Do not take people’s money before you give them a ton of extra documents to sign and tell them about extra fees and problems and not let them cancel and get full refund after they see them . I was on the phone with Vrbo after I saw all of the extra fees and problems and they would not cancel or refund the booking. They told me the owner had to do this but she said they had too. Just Horrible all around.
We are so glad that we were able to talk with you about your one night stay and are looking forward to your return. As you can see from our almost 100 previous reviews that are 5 stars, guest satisfaction is important to us.
It is unfortunate that you did not read the listing to know that VRBO has started collecting the Texas State Lodging Tax but they are not collecting the Port Aransas City Lodging Tax and that there is reconstruction from Hurricane Harvey going on at the complex. As we discussed, the listing states there would be an additional payment request as we are required to collect the Port Aransas City Lodging Tax and VRBO does not offer a way for us to collect it at the time of booking. Hurricane Harvey was a tragic event for Port Aransas and it has been a challenge for everyone to reconstruct due to insurance delays and the lack of construction workers. I spoke with the contractor and there was no interruption to water or power during your one night stay and they do not anticipate any more interruptions as the majority of the work in the other units in the building has been completed. There are 2 walk ways with bridges over the sand dunes and they are both in good shape and visible from the condo balcony. As we discussed, I called and verified with the front desk that they are in good shape. We wished you would have called us about the elevator so that we can have had it taken care of for you. We ask our guests to notify us immediately if the elevator is not working so that it can be taken care of asap. It was a very simple 5 minute fix as someone had left the gate open and no one had informed us that it wasn’t working until after you checked out. We strive to be upfront with our guests and as we discussed the check out instructions were included in the rental agreement that you accepted prior to paying for your reservation. When you contacted me about the cleaner forgetting to empty the dishes in the dishwasher, I had her return to the condo and empty the dishwasher and she replaced the quilt that had an ink stain on it. We are so thankful that the window blind industry has come up with cordless blinds as they are so much safer for our young guests . . . the window blind was not broken . . . you simply pull down on it from the bottom to close them and lift up on it from the bottom to open it. We look forward to you returning. Thank you, Jane
Beautiful Condo and Location
Property owner very nice and responsive to inquiries. Very spacious and perfect for large groups or families. Comfortable furniture, nice view of beach, great pool. Love the open kitchen/dining/living area. Really enjoyed the long weekend with special friends.
Thank you for the kind words of appreciation. We are so happy that you love how we have opened up the living space. It is hard to leave that view of the ocean. We look forward to having you as our guests again. Thank you,
Jane and Jeremy
