Location:
From the Stone Age through the Middle Ages to the present day, the land in and around Neustadt has been settled by people. The town of “Neustadt am Rübenberge” was first mentioned in an official document in 1215, in which it was called “civitatem nostram novam”—translated as “our new town”—Neustadt a. Rbge. (This is the “Neustadt Region” with its ever-fascinating transition from forest to moor, heath to marsh, hills to fields.
The Leine River winds its way through the Neustadt Region for more than 50 km. Extensive woodlands and large moorlands provide this city and its residents with plenty of open space for recreation and relaxation.
A rich cultural offering—theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, and films—along with nearly the entire range of sporting activities—from squash and tennis to horseback riding and golf, all the way to sailing and surfing—give Neustadt a. Rbge. a high recreational value.
The small speciality shops in the lovingly restored half-timbered houses in the pedestrian zone invite visitors to enjoy a shopping spree.
