Family Vacation

Lovely large home with more than enough room for our family of 17 to gather from Virginia, Oregon and Canada for a week. Located within and hour of Bryce and Zion. Lots if other neat hikes, caves and museums nearby. Very clean, well stocked, comfy beds and furniture. Two refrigerators, large freezer and ice machine. Owner open to suggestions for some needed repairs. Would definitely stay again.

Summer Bliss!!

This a wonderful home. The house was excellent for our large extended family. Our group had a variety of ages from 6 months to 68 years of age. The kitchen & dining spaces inside & out were lovely. The extra fridge & laundry were a huge help. We found the location to be excellent for hikes in Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Grand Canyon N Rim and Zion National Parks. Julie the owner was wonderful to work with and communicated with us on everything. We would definitely stay here and again and highly recommend it.

Alton Lodge

I wish I had 2 more hands to give the Alton Lodge 4 thumbs up. This was my 3rd time renting this property and will for sure be back. The house is perfect for large groups. We had about 20 people-mix of adults and kids and we all had a blast. There was snow on the ground when we went and the kids would play for 45 min and when they got cold they would come in and warm up and then back out. Plenty of space for everyone to relax and not feel on top of each other. The Heatons are great communicators and they replied to our one issue with the ice maker within the hour. Highly recommend this place!!!

Secluded paradise

This was a great place to stay with our large group. Just close enough to Zions National Park that the drive was easy, and just far enough that we weren't surrounded by tourists. The house was huge and offered many outdoor and indoor gathering areas, so that it never felt too crowded with all 35 of us. The only thing we didn't like was that the hot water on the main floor kept going out and the people there were taking cold showers and we had to do dishes cold. The owners were quite apologetic and said that it was the first time something like that had happened. It would have been nice if they offered us money back for this though.

AMAZING!

If you have any reservations about staying at this beautiful lodge - throw them out the window! My husband and I travel across the country often and have stayed in many 4 star hotels. This will hold its own with any of the best! We rented the lodge to host my husbands family for our Christmas gathering. It was the perfect place for all the family. The kitchen is amazing, with all the wonderful things I am used to at home, but commercial size. Granite counter tops are stunning against the logs. There are two ovens, and a warming oven. Lots of pantry space for food storage for a large crowd or a longer stay. The Master Bed Room would be a beautiful honeymoon stop. The gathering area's are spacious and inviting. The pool table kept the teens entertained. Alton is a beautiful quiet little town. While you are set away from everyone, if you ever run into a towns person they are quite friendly. The weather was snowy and perfect for building a snowman in December. I've been to Alton in the summer time as well and the weather is perfect then! Not too hot, mid 80's usually. Cooler in the evenings. I love the fire places. There is one that has a seating area perfect for snuggling up and reading a book or taking an afternoon nap. I really could go on and on! The lodge was so nice and clean! It's so obvious that the owners take such great care of it. They even decorated for Christmas for us! Complete with a real pine tree and garland on the railing. It smelled fresh and inviting. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom, except that one is a jack and jill, but that didn't damper us a bit! My husband and I have plans to go back for a romantic get away, as soon as we can find the time. I know this lodge is under new ownership, and I know with how wonderful our stay was that everyone will experience the same. The owners are so great and have the cutest family. I know they work together to clean and keep the place really nice. Do yourself a favor and book it today!

Spectacular Family Reunion Location

This is our 2nd stay at Alton Lodge. We loved it last year so returned this year. In addition to the lodge with 9 bedrooms, (most with lofts & extra sleeping space) and bathrooms, there are 2 separate apartments on location which we also rented giving us 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. They don't skimp on things like paper towels and toilet paper. Tons of pots, pans, crockpot, cookie sheets, muffin pans, rice cooker instapot, etc. 2 large BBQ grills behind the lodge. It is very clean and the area is beautiful. Beds are very comfortable. We saw literally hundreds of deer on a short drive in the foothills. The only negative is the dishwasher didn't work, but knowing that in advance, we brought a ton of paper plates and enjoyed not having to wash dishes, just silverware. (They have a large dumptser for garbage.)The firepit was perfect and wood bundles were available at a small price - 5 a bundle. There are SO many activities at the lodge and countless more if you are want to hike or drive a short distance,We have been having a family reunion every summer at a large VRBO's for 35 years. It seriously is one of our favorite places. Totally a winner!

Family get-together

We are a family of hikers so enjoyed staying between two national parks. After a long day of hiking and sight seeing everyone enjoyed the pool and ping pong tables. The kitchen was well equipped as we ate every meal together in the house.

Remote and relaxing

No central air conditioning, just 3 room units in a very large house, thus we were grateful for the cool (55°) nights. Alton is remote. Closest retail is miles away and very expensive. We purchased groceries in Kanab on the way in at reasonable prices. The family truly enjoyed the golf setup, grassy yard, fire pit and large, comfortable rooms.

WE LOVE IT!

We had a wonderful week at Alton Lodge. Plenty of room for our large family vacation with 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms in the main lodge. We also reserved the adjoining 2 apartments over the garage. Plenty of beds for everyone using the queen mattresses in the lofts. (We took our own sheets (which are not provided) to use on the loft queen size mattresses). We are very grateful the mattresses are provided for optional use. The area is absolutely beautiful, many deer and fun trails to explore. We had nightly volleyball games at the sand court on the property. S’mores at the fire pit was so fun! Having so many bathrooms (11 in total!!) was a big plus for a large family with children. The AC units provided adequate cooling and at night we just opened the windows to the cool night air. Orderville is 19 miles away and we found everything we needed at Terry’s Food & Drug (grocery store). The golfing was a plus on the property and several of our group went to Thunderbird Golf Course for a day out. Lots of places to sit for meals, comfortable living areas and lots of room indoor and out. We are hoping to book for next summer. One of our favorite places and locations. Comfortable beds and ample kitchen space for food and storage of refrigerated items. The ICE MACHINE was a marvelous surprise! Plenty of ice all week! We have been renting for family vacations like this for 30 years and this is the one we want to go back to again. Thank you to the Heaton family for sharing!

Family Vacation to visit Bryce/Zion National Parks

The house and apartments, above the garage, provided 11 bedrooms for my group of 26. Great gathering spaces in the LARGE home, but we felt secluded in the quiet neighborhood. Lots of outdoor space with a large patio and plenty of parking.

Hot and stinky

We had a great family reunion on the property and found lots of fun activities nearby. The lodge is beautiful and spacious. The only drawbacks were we were there during the middle of July and the rooms were uncomfortably hot with minimal air conditioning. A mouse or squirrel must have died in the laundry room making that area disgustingly odiferous. More portable fans in the bedrooms may have helped.
