The stylishly furnished, bright apartment is located in a quiet residential street on a hillside in a purely residential area near the Rhine. It extends over two open levels and is approx. 50 m² in size.
On the lower level there is a separate bedroom with a large built-in wardrobe offering plenty of storage space for your luggage and a 1.60 m wide double bed. The living area next to the bedroom has a comfortable couch, a TV and a spacious desk which is also suitable for working in a home office (WLAN) if required. A small south-facing terrace with sun until late afternoon and a view of the valley adjoins the living area.
On the upper level is the bathroom with shower and the well-equipped fitted kitchen with large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, Senseo coffee machine, toaster, kettle, hob and oven. Next to it is the dining area. All areas have underfloor heating and, with the exception of the bathroom, a warm wooden floor.
Bicycles and motorcycles can be parked in a locked garage opposite the apartment. There is also a free parking space in front of the garage.
Location
The cozy vacation apartment is located in the so-called “Herrlichkeit Erpel”. The small village lies directly on the Rhine between the well-known towns of Linz and Unkel. From here you can start the “Rheinradweg” (approx. 200 m away) and the hiking trail “Rheinsteig” (approx. 300 m away). In Erpel there is a bakery, a village store with breakfast and a “hot bar” as well as three restaurants. Erpel train station is a 5-minute walk away. From there you can take the train up the Rhine to Koblenz and down the Rhine to Bonn and Cologne. You can return to Erpel by train (RE 8) for all cycling excursions. There is a bicycle dealer with a repair shop in Linz. There are further hiking and cycling opportunities in the Westerwald, which can be reached quickly by car. Many grocery stores are located in the neighboring town of Unkel.
In Linz, you can board the Cologne Rhine boats (KD) at the ferry terminal and travel to Bonn or Cologne or explore the romantic Rhine Valley by boat from Koblenz.
Excursions
From the Erpeler Ley, which towers above the village, you have a fantastic view of the opposite side of the Rhine with the old Roman town of Remagen, which is connected to Erpel by a passenger ferry. The famous “Bridge of Remagen” stood between the two towns until the Second World War. This is still a particularly important place today with the Peace Museum located in the former bridge towers.
Remagen has a spacious promenade with plenty of restaurants and nice stores. The “Apollinaris” pilgrimage church overlooks the town.
A short distance down the Rhine to Bad Honnef (8 km) is Königswinter (13 km) with the famous Drachenfels and the former home of Konrad Adenauer.
Adjacent is the former capital Bonn (25 km), which offers plenty of culture:
- Museum Mile with the House of the History of the FRG
- Museum König (natural history)
- art museum
- Arpmuseum (opposite Bad Honnef)
- Cultural Center Brotfabrik Bonn
- Gallery Acht P!
outdoor swimming pools in Linz, Remagen and Bad Honnef. An indoor pool in Unkel and a thermal spa in Bad Hönningen. The nearest airport, Cologne/Bonn, is 40 km from the accommodation.
