The host canceled our reservation 22 hours before check in at 6pm. They told us due to lack of reservations, they would be “upgrading” our stay to a 4 star hotel in a near by city. They happened to own the hotel which was not available on vrbo and also cheaper per night with no mention of refunding the difference. Classic bait and switch. They did not give us the option to cancel the reservation, just to swap properties. We thought this was odd so we contacted vrbo and after a 40 minute international phone call we learned this was not okay. Everything worked out in the end, but as a couple traveling with our 70 year old dads, this was very stressful to say the least.
