Just a few kilometres away is Viborg, one of Denmark's oldest cities, with its imposing cathedral and charming old town. The surrounding area offers marvellous hiking and cycling routes through forests, hills and along the fjord. Excursions to the Hald Sø nature reserve and the historic monastery ruins, which lend the landscape a special depth, are particularly rewarding.
