Look Out Lodge is an awesome 3-story Craftsman Lodge Home, perfect for an ultimate vacation getaway in this stunning 6-bedroom, 5-Bath vacation home. A 7-minute neighborhood walk down to the Rumbling Bald Resort's beautiful white sandy beach Cove and Marina where you will find all of the Resort Amenities very handy and closeby: Restaurants, Bear's Cup Coffee shop, Golf Pro shop, Tennis, Pickle ball courts, putt- putt, Wellness center with all of your favorite gym and workout equipment. The Beach Kids Playground and the Ice Cream Cabana is a Favorite anytime.
Included with your stay, We also provide our guests the use of our personal 2 (SUPs) Stand Up Paddle Boards, and 2- Double-Kayaks for your fun . Multiple sized Life jackets are also provided and "a Must" on the Lake.

Enoy a refreshing dip in 1 of the 3 outdoor pools and unwind floating in the Trout Stream, or you may prefer the soothing warmth of the indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, or steam room.

My siblings and our spouses (9 pp in all) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It rained a little but the house was very well appointed with games, reading material, TVs if desired, and plenty of covered outdoor space. One night we had a very nice pit fire but we were without marshmallows. All of our dinner meals were prepared by us, and one of my brothers is a gourmet chef with his own business. He said “the owners thought of everything for this kitchen”. My wife would be pleased with another stay to the Lake Lure house.

Family Vacay 2024

This home is absolutely beautiful and has many spaces to separate to if quiet is needed. The view is amazing and the home is well equipped for young ones as well as older ones. It is very spacious with so many things to do at the house but more importantly the season passes to Rumbling Bald Resort amenities was the icing on the cake! Hope to return again someday.

Amazing Property

This is a perfect house for large groups or families. Not only are there plenty of things at the house to keep people entertained, but there is also so much more in the community itself. The pictures and description of the property are accurate. Lake Lure is still being cleared and not open, but we still had so many other amenities to enjoy and the 4th of July weekend was filled with community events. The house is beautiful and so inviting. The views from the porches are amazing. Our host Vickie is one of the best hosts we have encountered. She was in contact prior to our trip, providing detailed information that made our stay from start to finish seamless. On the day we were departing as we started to pack the car, we realized the battery was dead and we had to call AAA. They were not going to show up by the time we needed to check out, but Vickie was so accommodating and understanding by telling us not to worry and hang out until we were able to get it jump started.

39th Bogey Retreat

This was our third year straight renting this property and the 39th year going to Rumbling Bald for our annual golf ⛳️ trip. The house works well for a four night stay of 8 guys playing golf then coming back to a house and enjoying cocktails 🍹 and dinner. The kitchen is fully equipped with just about everything you need. Already planning to book it again for our 40th annual trip to the mountains.

Golf Getaway

We had eight of us at the house for a golf weekend / reunion, and could not have been happier! The comfort level was exceptionally high, with a spacious kitchen, beautiful views, and we especially enjoyed the fire pit. The house is very well built, and the layout was appreciated by all. Perfect for Us

Lookout Lodge was everything we hoped for and more. It was perfectly clean and had plenty of room for our gathering. The furnishings are comfortable and the decor is attractive. There was even a huge Christmas tree in the Gathering Room. The fireplace was fantastic, the beds weee comfortable, and the game room was a big hit with everyone. Vickie was always responsive and helpful. All in all we could not have had a better experience.

Family Spring Break

This was a wonderful property for families. There was so much space! We thoroughly enjoyed the porches. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need to cook big meals. Plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. We would like to come back in the summer so we could use the pool and other outdoor amenities. We had teenagers with us so they took advantage of having the loft to themselves as well as enjoying the pool table and other games. The host was very responsive to our questions and seemed to really want us to enjoy our time at the property.

Gorgeous mountain home

I rented this home for three nights for a reunion weekend for six friends. The house was perfect - modern, clean, spacious, and well equipped with everything we needed. Views of Rumbling Bald Mountain from the fire pit (where we spent most of our time) and living room are spectacular. Vickie, the owner, was helpful with tips and making sure we were settled. It is about a 25 minute drive to the nearest grocery store, and a little bit further to the restaurants and shops at Chimney Rock. Highly recommended.

Getaway at LL

This is our fourth time at Lookout Lodge and we love it!!! Maybe the fifth stay. For our growing family this home works beautifully. Plenty to do rain or shine. Convenient to the lake, pool area, playground and tennis/pickleball courts. There is golf as well. There are many reasons we keep coming back. The owners are great as well. Always responsive to questions and needs. They do a great job of keeping the home up to date. Had an awesome time as usual.

Fully loaded house, scenic views, great resort amenities

Our extended family (8 of us, including 3 six year olds), enjoyed a fantastic week in July here. The house offered everything you could ask for... plenty of space for everyone, well-stocked kitchen, seating for outdoor meals, firepit, and loads of indoor activities for rainy days. The kids could all play in the lower level while the adults took in some quiet time upstairs. Vickie was super-responsive before and during our stay. The resort offers something for everyone, and the homeowner's stand-up paddleboards lakeside were a great addition. It was great heading up to the mountains in mid-summer to escape the heat a bit, and we'll likely come back very soon.

Just Perfect!

Hands down, the best experience my friends and I have had in the 10 years we've been getting together for our annual "guys weekend." No more searching for a different house and location every year for this trip; we'll be coming back here! The layout of the house was perfect for six guys or more, and it is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The photos on VRBO are impressive, but this home is even better than the photos reveal. There is an attention to detail and a personal touch to each space in this home that even a bunch of guys noticed. Finally, Vickie was so kind, informative, and very responsive to our questions or any needs. As a VRBO veteran, I usually have some constructive suggestions for improvement; not this time.....it was just perfect!

Lovely home near Lake Lure

We organized a family gathering at this lovely home to celebrate my Dad surviving two strokes this year and my parents 40th wedding anniversary. All of the family live in different areas of NC, making it convenient to stay at Lake Lure. Vickie made her house so lovely for us. The house was very clean, roomy, and cozy. Vickie even had a Christmas tree up in her home. The space in this house was awesome for the 8 adults and 3 children that were staying there. Vickie's house has everything! Huge game room, which the kids constantly utilized, a lovely fire pit outside that the family gathered at, and the house has 2 master bedrooms. I highly recommend staying here.

Fourth of July Trip

Our excursion proved highly beneficial for our infants, toddlers, and pre-teens, as the accommodations provided by the house seamlessly catered to the needs of all four families involved. The arrangement allowed us to enjoy both collective moments and individual spaces as required. Notably, the check-in procedure was effortlessly executed and accompanied by concise and comprehensive instructions. The resort itself boasted a multitude of amenities, ranging from an inviting pool to a picturesque lakefront beach. For optimal convenience and reduced stress, we strongly recommend utilizing the golf cart to navigate the amenities during peak periods, thereby ensuring easier parking arrangements. To summarize, the combination of the splendid dwelling and the resort's offerings proved to be an impeccable choice for our expansive group.

Lake Lure Magic!

We are a group of friends - 5 couples. We searched VRBO and found many beautiful options but feel we hit the jackpot with this home! Our group is very well traveled and we rent homes together for long weekends. This house is so incredibly beautiful with the perfect layout for a group our size. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoor space and gathering space. The hosts have thought of everything! The house is so well stocked, well organized and everything was labeled so we could quickly find and also return items to their correct space. The views were amazing and star gazing was phenomenal! Large spacious home but super cozy! Our host Vickie was so easy to communicate with and made sure we knew everything to make our stay pleasurable. Our group voted and this home as the best we have ever stayed in and we selfishly treat ourselves to the best when we travel! We plan on returning!

I could write a wonderful Love Story about Lake Lure that started when I was a teenager, and attended Camp Lurecrest (a Christian Camp at the opposite end of the Lake)....Think Dirty Dancing Camp..but take out the Dirty! LoL! Our family has spent many summers on Lake Lure creating a life time of wonderful memories, trail hiking, kum-bah-yah campfires, and making great memories.

Why they chose this property

In 2005, we bought a View Extraordinaire, with the sound of a nearby waterfall. It is not be a cliff hanger (too high), not right on the big lake, must have flat land somewhere (for 8 Grandgirls to explore) and have lots of fun things to do. We bought this VIEW with an interesting little red cabin on the property in a Resort community.
My husband is a General Contractor/Builder/ & Certified Remodeler in Charlotte for 25+ yrs. Did I mention that the little red house was a Hexagon? Oh Yeah! The day we found the house, Rich said, 'I feel certain that I can fix this house, but I could never create a view like this.' We spent few years enjoying and deciding just what and how we would remodel the house, fondly referred to as 'our Rubik Cube.' Each year we welcomed another Grandchild. After 8 Grandgirls...our plans had enlarged. In 2012, we began the daunting task of doing a major Addition/Renovation of the entire home.

What makes this property unique

The Whole House Renovation took almost 12 months. We are honored that the NARI (National Association of Remodeling Industry) awarded our Home Project, the COTY Award for Best Whole House Renovation in 2013! And then again in April 2014, the Home Builders Association awarded our home, a 1st place Gold Award for Best Whole House Renovation again. Yoohoo!
We so enjoy our home away, and love sharing it with our friends and family. It is True: A house is made of Sticks and Bricks....but a home is made from love!
