This property is beautiful and the hosts are informative, accommodating and overall super people. My wife and I enjoyed 3 wonderful nights away from home and the stress of the city and were so happy that we chose The Island Mill Getaway. If you enjoy nature, nights by a fire and serenity then this is the place to go.

Beautiful mill getaway!
Our stay was far too short. We would have loved to spend more time in our cosy suite. It was perfect - elegantly decorated and every amenity thoughtfully provided. We plan to visit again and stay longer next time.

This is such a charming property and Jerry and Suzie are charming hosts! The place is very relaxing by the river, with the firepit and the beautiful gardens. Just what we need to make our 30th anniversary special! Jerry and Suzie also surprised us with a treat to celebrate! Close enough to all the action in Prince Edward County, such a special and unique place.

Thank you for your kind words Brenda and thank you for choosing to celebrate your special occasion at our place.
I know the area. I went to visit family, go to the village Watermark bookshop and the Harlan House Gallery. Returning to the quiet and comfort of the Mill just added to the experience. The hosts were knowledgeable and kind. The gardens and spring setting sublime with the Salmon River rushing by.
The property is immaculately kept, such beautiful grounds. Suzie and Jerry are great hosts and very responsive to any requests. They provide so many activities for you to enjoy during your stay ! They truly do think of everything you may need.

Paradise
The Mill is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Although it seems to be in the middle of nowhere you are just a short drive from "the County" where you will find wineries and great restaurants. Suzie and Gerry are the perfect hosts and have a very good knowledge of the area.

Thank you for including our place for three nights during your anniversary tour from the U.S. It's nice to be attracting so many visitors from across the border and sharing our little piece of Canada with pleasant guests like yourselves.
I had a lovely relaxing weekend at Susie’s place. Everything was beautiful, extraordinary attention to detail, and surrounded by nature and a rushing river —heaven!
We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Island Mill Getaway. Everything was even more beautiful than in the pictures. We spent five nights alternating between relaxing at the property and venturing out to see nearby spots. We highly recommend staying with Jerry and Suzie and hope to return one of these days!

Just the place I was looking for!
I recently spent three nights at the Island Mill and it was just splendid! I was looking for a quiet retreat to write and relax and this is what I got. The place is just idyllic, sitting in the middle of the river, very calming and beautiful. I had a lovely private suite to myself and the hosts, Suzie and Jerry were warm and welcoming, I look forward to going back in the summer. Thank you guys!

It was our pleasure hosting Shubhra for her writing getaway. I believe she was able to find the peaceful atmosphere she needed to inspire her thoughts. We would like to see her again for another working holiday or maybe even just for some real relaxation away from work.
Being able to sit outside and hear the constant water running over the mini dam nearby was so calming that we would just spend hours sitting outside enjoying the sun and sounds. for those that like quiet not quiet.
Suzie and Jerry seem to have done everything right with this property. The upstairs suite is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained. They are extremely welcoming and friendly hosts. Kayaking on the river was great. We got to enjoy items from their garden. There is easy access to the highway, PEC, groceries in Napanee. 100% recommended.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience and thank you for leaving the suite in such good order.
Our stay at the Island Mill exceeded all expectations. Whether you're a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, this listing offers an unforgettable escape. Jerry was welcoming and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The hot tub was a nice perk as the nights turned chilly while were were there. The grounds and the mill itself are breathtaking and our suite was a perfect, romantic getaway. Our plans to return are already in the works!

A beautiful oasis for relaxation away from the city
Everything was exactly as advertised. Sitting by the river listening to water and reading a book then stargazing at night was amazing! Location is isolated which is great for quiet and being surrounded by nature but it does require a drive to get to shops and such. Just need to come prepared. Hosts Suzie and Jerry were lovely and accommodating. They left a thoughtful snack bag in the room and had great recommendations for things to do in the area. Definitely plan to visit again!
Awesome stay at the Mill. Suzie and Jerry are truly the best hosts out there. Everything was just perfect to accommodate a quiet stay. History buffs will have a great time looking at all the old mill’s artifacts. Nature lovers will adore the island set up and landscaping efforts our hosts worked out. Lots of wildlife around, beaver, geese, turtles, heron, squirrels chipmunks and tons of birds!! The room/suite is comfy and greatly furnished. We loved our stay and will be soon planning to return to see Suzie and Jerry. 5 stars well deserved.

A beautiful and unique spot full of wonderful suprises
My husband and I loved our stay at The Island Mill Getaway. It was even better than what we expected, after reading all the wonderful reviews when we booked our suite. From the stunning garden, where we were invited to help ourselves to any fresh vegetables and herbs, to the gorgeous historical building, The Island Mill Getaway is a beautiful and unique setting. You can relax in the garden and watch the wildlife during the day. And then at night, while sitting in front of the fire or soaking in the hot tub, you can star gaze. It was a very welcome break from our busy day to day lives. Suzie and Jerry think of absolutely everything to make you feel at home. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. We will definitely be back!

We're so glad you enjoyed yourselves at the mill. You were such great and easy going people and so appreciative of our place. I know you'll love our other suite as well, The Miller's Retreat and we look forward to having you back for another little getaway from your busy life. It was wonderful to meet you and we will pop in to see you when we're down your way. See you again.
This is a lovely property. Much work and pride have gone into it. We had a wonderful experience here. One feels grounded in nature while impressed with manmade beauty. There are many relaxing and connecting opportunities throughout the grounds as well as a very comfortable, attractive suite, Very friendly owners completes the getaway.
What a wonderful getaway we had. The hosts are amazing, so charming and welcoming. The suite is romantic and well appointed and had everything we needed.
So many places to sit from the patio to other places in the expansive garden.
Suzie and Jerry have thought of everything.
Perfect. Wonderful hosts Gerry and Suzy. Beautiful lovingly tended property, and truly generous on the amenities. Smell the thyme! G&S have thought of everything. Unbelievably we achieved express decompression over 3 days. Paddle boated, canoed, biked, swam, bbqd, ate on the patio, enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub and the sunny seats. Sweet room, comfy bed and butter soft linens. We’ll see you next year!!
Wow, wow and wow! What a stunning area to unwind and be surrounded by nature. Everything we could have hopped for and more. Suzie and Jerry are the ultimate hosts! A fountain of knowledge of the area and its history. We’ll be back!
Un séjour exceptionnel autant pour l’accueil, l’endroit, le Mills, les multiples attentions de Suzie et Jerry, leur professionnalisme, leur gentillesse. Nous les recommandons fortement ❤️❤️
We had a wonderful time. The mill, the gardens and the hosts are first class. One of the best VRBO stays we have had. Will certainly return

About the host
Hosted by Suzie Gutzman
We are a retired couple who love sharing our unique property with others.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property when we were young and naiive. It has taken almost 40 years and the journey, like all journeys has been difficult at times but very rewarding. The Lonsdale Mill has reached a potential even we did not believe possible in the beginning. The beautiful Salmon River with the abundance of wildlife and the lulling of the waterfalls is what keeps us here. Even though we're not located anywhere in particular, we're so close to everything. A short drive in 4 directions takes us to many towns and cities. We just can't imagine ourselves anywhere else.
What makes this property unique
Opportunity to stay in an historic limestone grist/flour mill on an island. Three types of watercraft and touring bicycles for your enjoyment at no extra charge. Outdoor, all season hot tub under the stars. Hot tub is for your private use on any of the even numbered hours. Swimming in the waterfalls. (river levels Dining, outdoor fire and relaxing riverside under a covered pergola. Great opportunities for viewing birds and wildlife, such as otters, beavers, turtles, great blue herons and songbirds. A true getaway experience in a scenic and historic setting. Free pass to any Ontario Provincial Parks from May - October
