This remote property is at the end of a 3 km gravel road, fronting a quiet ocean inlet. Enjoy tidal flats filled with oysters, bird life, and clean ocean water. Two salmon runs can be seen in the fall. The cottage is located at the edge of a garden clearing, 400' from the beach. Inside the cottage, you'll find a glass-fronted wood stove, hot water, shower, and full kitchen, which includes sugar, honey, olive oil, salt and pepper, tea, some dry goods, as well as a coffee grinder, marimba coffee maker, pots pans and dishes. Linens, blankets, pillows, and towels are provided.
We cannot accommodate smokers.
We now have a system in place to bring wifi all the way to the cabin when needed. Cell phone signal is available also at the main house, but it is weak. There is no TV.
Firewood for heat, propane for cooking range, hot water, and fridge. Sleeps 4 max: Queen bed in the bedroom, and a fold-out hide-a-bed in the front room. Guests have access to the rest of the property and they can also use our canoe to paddle out into Desolation Sound.
How to find us: Drive north of Powell River on 101 Highway. After about 25 minutes, watch for a fire-station sign on the right, and mailboxes on the left of a turn-off called 'Craig Rd'. (It is 3 km. from the highway to the cottage) The highway here swings to the left and Craig Rd swings slightly to the right. Turn off here and shortly you will turn right onto 'Plummer Creek Rd'. Pretty soon it turns from the pavement into gravel and starts to go downhill and into the woods. You'll go down by an old sand pit with open gates on the sides, and then on down into thicker mature forest. Ignore all signs of 'closed road'. At the bottom, it levels out and swings left. In a few hundred yards there will be a fork, stay left and go up a rise. Then after a couple of turns, it opens up into a garden where you'll see 'Koppen - 9120'. Here is where you can park - just before the sign, there is a pullover to the right. Once here..... Since we make our own power, we need to be mindful of electricity consumption and turn off lights and electric devices when not in use. The road from Highway 101 to the property is rough in some spots. A regular car can travel it, but must go very slowly. We recommend stocking up on groceries in Powell River. Bring a flashlight and solid shoes. If you bring dogs, please note: Only friendly dogs can be off-leash. We have two friendly Leonbergers and there are dogs owned by neighbors. Close to our main house, please leash your dogs if they are not used to cats. Powell River is a town of 18000 people and is a 35-minute car ride from the cottage. There is a movie theatre, gyms, restaurants, museums, galleries, shopping, golf and various activities. Hiking forest trails, and all water sports, including excellent diving, are available. Powell River has been called a 'Cultural Capitol of Canada' for its promotion of the arts, such as choral competitions and festivals. There are ferry services to and from Powell River, and a Transit Bus from Powell River to Lund, passing by our property access. Other than that, you will need a vehicle, bike, or hiking boots.

Cabin was clean and cozy. Directions were easy to follow. Took a canoe out for an evening paddle with the kids where a curious seal shared the calm inlet with us. Lovely stay all around. Thanks!
Quiet off the grid style cottage
Just turn off your phones and internet and chill by the wood stove
A very nice cabin and the hosts are very accommodating
Had a great stay. Quiet location and close to the Sunshine Coast Trail for great dog walks, hiking and trail running.. Hosts were super accommodating. Being on Okeover Inlet we had access to world class paddling.

Wonderful seclusion and peace, on pristine ocean water. Owners are fantastic! Puppy time was a bonus. I'll be back!
This is a beautiful property with lush forests and a cozy, post and beam cabin, which is just a short walk from stunning views at the waterfront. There are warm waters for swimming and wonderful gardens for sitting. The hosts are warm, friendly and inspiring. We loved our stay.
Perfect secluded location, perfect for switching off yet in relatively close proximity to other local areas of interest (e.g. Lund 15mins away). Delightful cabins, relaxed and friendly hosts - would most certainly recommend, and will be returning!
This little spot was exactly what we were looking for! We enjoyed time relaxing, reading and plays cards at the cabin. We headed off for a couple day trips as well! Jurgen, Cindy and there 3 dogs were very welcoming! We enjoyed fresh basil from the garden, and garlic from a previous harvest. Would absolutely stay here again!
We celebrated our anniversary and engagement at Jurgen and Cindy’s picturesque property. Gorgeous craftsmanship was displayed not only in our cabin but all over the property. Fruitful gardens and undulating stone work led my partner and I towards the inlet - the warmest water we’ve ever swam in!
Highly recommend a 7+ day stay here
Thank you Cindy and Jurgen
I was looking for a quiet, remote space, in a wild and beautiful location, just a little retreat. This sweet cabin in the woods was perfect. A great launching place for hiking the deep woods and exploring the inlet. I loved the wood stove on a rainy afternoon. Enjoyed the town of Powell River, the bakery and farmers market. Great hosts, and dogs. Appreciated so much Cindy giving me the lay of the land and sharing her garden. Best of all was the frogsong.
An idyllic little cabin in the woods surrounded by old growth trees and beautiful gardens. It was a short walk to the inlet and a canoe was available for paddling. Hosts were welcoming and offered the opportunity to roam the property. Their dogs were a treat and popped over to visit.
A great way to get away and unplug.
This cottage is a true gem. My husband and I visited 10 years ago and we have always said we would take our children back, and we just returned from our visit. It was just as amazing as it was 10 years ago, our daughters had a wonderful time and we have made so many more memories. We definitely will be back for a third time.
A paradise in the woods. A cozy, quiet cabin. Charming hosts. Beautiful friendly dogs. Close to water with a beautiful view. A canoe. A well equipped kitchen. Internet access.
The only problem is the pull out bed which is extremely uncomfortable.
What a beautiful spot. Nice and private, very peaceful.
Unfortunately, my pup decided to have a midlife crisis and we weren't able to spend time with the fur gang who are a wonderful bonus to this property. The ocean is easily accessible and the owner's easy to communicate with who were very patient with my fishing obsessed kids. Shopping, stores and hiking are all close as well. Having a warm fire at the end of the day was a lovely extra. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Cindy and Jurgen have been fantastic hosts during our stay in their oceanside cottage. They have made us feel welcome, whilst exploring the scenic nature in their backyard. When our car broke and was taken the mechanics, Jurgen offered to help take a look and give us a ride back. Both Cindy and Jurgen showed compassion, and understanding for the troubles we encountered and made our visit enjoyable. We highly recommend this stay to any considering this location.
Thank you Jurgen and Cindy!

Wonderful friendly hosts who shared their property but were not intrusive. Their dogs huge and friendly were so well mannered and put my little dog at ease in no time. The cottage itself was so quaint it felt like going back in time but all the necessities were available. The road in is not so bad if you drive slow.
We found it a little challenging to get down to the okeover sound but we are both in our seventies and a bit physically challenged. Younger people would have had no problems and kids would love it there with all the space to run around. In all a very pleasant stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to just “get away” for a while.
We enjoyed the peaceful, quiet setting near the ocean beach and Sunshine Coast trail. The cabin was cozy with a wood stove and lots of firewood available. The kitchen was well stocked with every pot, pan, baking sheet, utensils and dishes to cook most anything. Be advised, for coffee there is only a small Italian press that makes just six ounces of coffee at a time. It makes great coffee but small portions. The hosts, Cindy and Jurgen, were wonderful - very accommodating and informative about the area. Also very pet friendly as we brought our larger dog along for a holiday 🙂 The frogs were very vocal in the evening and we enjoyed their nature's chorus quite a lot. Oysters were plentiful on the beach, which we enjoyed snacking on. Everything made it a very pleasant and enjoyable Easter weekend.

About the host

We, Cindy and I, are living in harmony with nature . Our location is back in the forest by the ocean in a big garden. As we are off the electrical grid we are generating our own power, using solar and micro hydro. We are artists and artisans, we build wooden kayaks and other boats, some furniture, breed Leonberger dogs, garden for food and flowers and play music. We travel sometimes to dog shows and to concerts. We love Dave Matthews Band and, as children of the 60's, we are rooted in that music. Our motto is a DMB quote: If kindness is you king, you will know heaven before you die.
