The Bayou Bungalow – Reelfoot Lake Vacation Rental

Located right on the water’s edge, The Bayou Bungalow is a cozy, family-style lodge designed for those who want the comforts of home with the charm of a private hideaway. Beautifully decorated with up-to-date style, the lodge features a spacious living area and is kept exceptionally clean—so inviting, you’ll want to return year after year.

Situated on the banks of Bayou De Chien, a natural bayou leading to the northeast side of the Upper Blue Basin, this smoke-free lodge now also offers fast, free wireless internet for your convenience.

Fully Equipped for Your Stay

No need to bring ice – the bungalow has an ice maker and a freezer stocked with bagged ice. Please reuse and refill the bags as needed.

After launching your boat at the nearby ramp, you can dock right at the bungalow and head straight out onto the lake.

You’ll have direct access to Reelfoot Lake where you can fish for crappie, bream, catfish, and largemouth bass—all just steps from your door. The lodge’s location next to a national wildlife refuge means you’ll enjoy frequent sightings of birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Not a very good place if you are hot natured.

The AC was locked on 75 all weekend and could not turn it down any more, the pots and pans that were on site had to be washed before using due to them being dirty, propane grille was not usable while we were on site. Asides from it being hot inside all weekend with very minimal airflow at night it could easily be a cozy place to stay. The best thing about the place is the boat ramp is a half a mile down the road and there is an included boat dock which was super convenient. They will allow pets which was nice as well.

Home Away from Home

The bungalow is comfortable and clean. It felt comfortable, a sort of home away from home. It’s been a relaxing change of pace from the hustle and bustle.

Nice Quiet Place near Reelfoot Lake

Home is on a quiet street that backs hp to small marshy water way, & has good parking. You can fish off the dock and there are lots of birds & other wildlife near by including a very cool Purple Martin sanctuary . The cabin was very clean & the air-conditioning and wifi signal are excellent. The hosts live next door & are very responsive. My only feedback was the kitchen gear needs an some updating, we brought food to cook all our meals but the pots pans etc were very well used, an odd mix, and lacked lids. Also the pot holders are worn through, burned. The gas grill was dirty, but owner did offer to have cleaned during stay but we declined since it was a short stay. My son had car trouble on the day they were checking out & hosts were very kind and had no problem with them waiting for the tow truck at the house passed check out time! All in all good place for a family stay!

Just far enough off the beaten path to remind you of what is most important in life.

I can't explain how much I needed to get away. I haven't personally had a vacation in countless years. Carole and "57" provide you with all the amenities minus any consumables you may require. No, there isn't any cell service but that simply enabled me to tune out the constant static of everyday madness which is exactly what I wanted. The house is so clean you will make it a habit to remove your shoes upon entry as if you were home. There is Direct TV to check the news and weather along with Wi-Fi if you even care to log on. Bob let me get settled and then came and asked if there was anything else I needed and that he was easy to find if I did. Yes I am a bit domesticated and the HVAC worked flawlessly. After a quick grocery trip for the essentials I made nightly use of the fire pit with swing away cooking grate for grilling. I opted for kebobs mostly which were phenomenally cooked with the split bbqn wood I brought with me. I do thoroughly enjoy grilling of any kind and the fire pit made it effortless. If you plan on any after dark activities don't for get the deepwoods off as this is a wetland area. I rented a local jon boat and spent nearly...every daylight hour fishing. I caught decent TN largemouth and stayed well hydrated:) the entirety of my getaway. I know there is a cleaning service upon departure though I deemed it necessary to keep up with the laundry, dishes, and trash so Cindy wouldn't have to miss too much time with her grandbabies. I'm telling you all this in detail so you understand how it's an extremely family oriented environment which I plan on sharing the experience with my son when he gets old enough. Watching Bob feed the catfish was fun. They sure do anticipate his daily presence and put on quite the feeding frenzy filled show. If you need to getaway and would like to have the space as if you were home this is the place. Bob and Carole I greatly appreciate the comfortable stay and will talk to you again soon.

The home was clean and we had everthing we needed. We enjoyed the comfortable living room furniture. Unfortunately, we had an issue with the air conditioning in the master bedroom. Also, the bed wasnt very comfortable for us. We both have arthritis pain and it was too hard. Carole was great to check on us.

The property was just as advertised. It was clean and had plenty of room for whole families. I really liked that they had ice for coolers. We had a wonderful time there. It was close enough to everything but far enough away that it didn't seem to busy. It was the perfect place for a get away.

Good place to stay

This was a very nice and clean place to stay to enjoy reelfoot lake. It had everything we needed including satellite TV and a deep freezer. I would definitely stay here again when we come back.

Very Isolated

Needs some repair and updating, very isolated, if you fish it would work but nothing else to do. Can not go in water. All house needs there. Felt some holes in floor covered by carpet. Description does not meet actual house. Not a bungalow, an old cabin.

We love to say lets get out of the house for the weekend, go next door for a wonderful clean bungalow vacation. We can't do that anymore, because the bungalow is always booked. So we try to vacation at other VRBO owners vacation sites.
