Eastern Shore beach cottage get-away

Recently renovated, charming cottage. A sandy beach is right across the quiet street from the cottage. The sandy bottom goes way out in the shallow water--great for kids, playing and launching kayaks. The cottage looks west to the amazing sunsets. Mr./Ms. Blue Heron visits the beach regularly and the ospreys dive for breakfast for their babies. Watch the crabbing boats ply the waters offshore as you enjoy your morning coffee and the amazing sunsets in the evening from the living room, dining room, or lawn chairs.

Rock Hall, MD is a quaint fishing village on the upper Eastern Shore in Kent County. Rock Hall is on Southern Living's 2016 list of Best Small Town's of the South. Kent County is the least populated county in MD, so it is a true get-away. Only one blinking traffic light in Rock Hall. There are also many marinas (sailing and motor boats), about 8 at last count. A surprisingly wide choice of restaurants and entertainment (including live entertainment at the Mainstay & local restaurants) is available. Biking is great as the roads have wide, paved berms and wind throughout the rural, country-side. The Eastern Neck Island Wildlife Refuge is a short drive away and provides wonderful bird-watching, or go crabbing on the docks and bridges on the way. Kayaking, fishing and boating opportunities abound. Chestertown, home of Washington College, with its many restaurants, shops and activities is 10 miles away.

Perfect stay

What a beautiful spot to enjoy the July 4th festivities! The property was amazing - the yard was our favorite part, and being right at the beach was wonderful. The home was perfectly equipped to meet our needs and had a great layout for our group of six. We will return!

Weekend getaway

Perfect location for watching the sunsets as the house is located right across the street from the beach. Also, an easy bike ride to restaurants and shops on Main St. The house is clean and comfortable. Highly recommend to other guests!

A wonderful place to stay

This home is a wonderful place to stay with a direct view of the Chesapeake Bay across the street and immediate access to the public beach to swim and/or sunbathe. The property is well maintained and has a very responsive staff to answer questions or provide help. It has very attractive decor, lots of information about the area, and all that's needed to live there comfortably..

Family vacation with little kids

We had a great stay here - the house was just as described and was clean and comfortable. The view couldn’t be beat, and it was SO convenient to be able to just walk the kids back and forth across the street to the beach. The beach is clean and the water was clean and a comfortable temperature; the kids were happy to swim for a long time, and with minimal waves it was the perfect calm environment for them. Diane was friendly and very communicative. We look forward to staying again!

Peace and Beauty at the Shore

This is our second time here. It's a cozy cottage with a million dollar view. Exceptionally clean, well decorated, we love it and our dog loves it. Everything is well thought out so all our needs are met. There isn't much in the off season, but that's what we like. No commercialism, but the grocery is great, a couple of restaurants, and Chestertown is a 15 minute drive.

Gorgeous view! Perfect location!

This house is the perfect base for a weekend on the Chesapeake! We enjoyed playing on the beach, spectacular sunsets, walking to restaurants (long walk but still walkable), and sailing on the bay. The only thing we didn’t do was rent bikes. We kept thinking we would do that but didn’t get around to looking into it. I’d like to look into kayaking next time too. The house itself is directly across from a small public beach. Even at sunset, the beach wasn’t crowded. We had a busy festival day on Saturday in Chestertown so a relaxing Sunday beach day was great! We have 3 kids so the bunk bed room was a perfect fit for us. The cottage has WiFi, netflix, and menus for most of the restaurants. Having washer/dryer and outdoor shower was wonderful! I loved the artwork all through the house. It’s very cheery and light! My only complaints are that the queen master bed wasn’t super comfortable and I kept waking up with a sore back. Also, our family of 5 (two adults, three kids 10 and under) was kind of a tight fit for the living room but we didn’t spend much time hanging out in the living room anyway. The beach across the street is where you should chill out when you’re not off doing activities. There’s a boardwalk and benches for those who don’t want to get sandy. As for the bed, if I’d brought my own pillows, I probably would have been fine. Oh, I couldn’t get the coffee maker to turn on but I’d brought my French press just in case so I was able to use that. All in all, a fantastic weekend! Hope to return soon!

Relaxing stay

It was a hot week, but we stayed cool floating in the bay. The first time we stayed at the house, we didn’t think to bring floats but luckily found some at a store. We upgraded this year to a large river tube, and it was perfect for floating around the water, and the fact that the house is right across the street from the beach is another plus.

Fabulous Views

Being directly across the street from the beach was great. Having a nice shade tree in the front yard to offer a cooler location with the same great views was fabulous. People are very friendly in this town. Looking forward to staying here again.

Perfect Little Family Getaway

House was great, fully stocked, clean, can't beat the views. Beach right across the street with safe swimming for littles. Property Manager was not very helpful checking in but other than that, we had an excellent time and highly recommend.

Bay View Cottage

Had a great stay. House was very clean, great location, well groomed yard enjoyed by pups, nice neighborhood, good wifi, good thermostat. Mattresses were all firm and supportive, 2 people w sciatica were comfortable on them. Great views, right across from beach, property as described.

Clean and cozy

Our stay at this clean and cozy cottage was very nice. We watched the waves from the comfy sofa, under a shade tree on the front lawn, and with our feet in the sand at the beach directly across the street. Everyone walking or riding bikes by us said hello - a very friendly neighborhood. Highly recommend!

Great Beach Front Getaway
