Great views and quite area
Great place to relax from the crowds. Nice 20min walk along a trail to a few good restaurants. Beautiful home.
The property was a great size, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The views were stunning and the sunsets every night were out of this world beautiful! We loved our stay! A few things to know in advance : there are steep stairs up to the front door (so pack lightly if you can). There are steep steps down the water as well but then a lovely boardwalk along the water to the local marina which has a great restaurant and cute little market for every day food. The reason I say this is because it’s the only real walkable place for food if you don’t have transportation. Taxis are hard to get. And the walk up the road to the main road is very steep and tiring. We needed up renting scooters which made everything much easier (Mario’s suggestion). It was very hot in July so a quick dip after a long day in the sea or in the little spa pool was nice to cool off. It’s important to keep the place very clean, no crumbs, because there were many ants if you are messy. We kept it very clean and then didn’t have many ants. Wifi was strong. The tours in the area were great. Almost all of them leave from Sorrento. We also walked the Path of the Gods which had amazing views. Not easy to get to and not easy to walk but well worth it. We hired a car to take us there and pick us up at the end which worked out really well. All in all, it was a wonderful adventurous and relaxing vacation and the villa was perfect for our needs. One last note: when leaving for the airport, you should leave 4 hours in advance of your flight. We didn’t know that and left 3 hours in advance but with terrible traffic and chaos at passport control we almost didn’t make our flight. Too many unknowns to take any risks on timing. Just a piece of advice. Enjoy your trip. Villa Edes is wonderful!!
San Montano was great!
We had a fantastic week in Villa Edes! The villa was as advertised - beautiful, spacious and gorgeous views of the Sea. The kitchen had everything we needed and al fresco meals were special. We chose not to rent a car and were fortunate to fine two drivers to take us into Sorrento for dinners, spend an escorted day in Rome and a day visiting the Amalfi Coast towns of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. The property host, Mario, was awesome in recommending local restaurants and taxi services. We highly recommend this property!
Beautiful Ocean View Villa and Superb Host
The Villa is well designed and nicely decorated. It has beautiful gardens with lovely flowers. Every room has access to decks and ocean views.
Mario, the property manager, is super helpful. He called me before the trip and provided me with many suggestions and info. He warned us about a reroute on the way to Sorrento due to flood condition. He picked us up when we were in Massa Lubrense, but could not found the villa. He even fixed sun visor of our rental car. He answered numerous questions promptly during our stay. He was super helpful. We had a wonderful stay thanks to Mario.
Great reception, wonderful host, stunning place. One of the best vacations we had.
One of the great surprises in our trip were people - very nice, very welcoming and patient with tourists and visitors. Mario, our host was the one who started this chain of pleasant surprises. To all future guests - do ask him questions about anything - local culture, restaurants, wines ( specifically local whites and rose), where to go and when. He also has arranged grocery shopping for us with exceptional bread, cheeses, fruits, wines, and water. Which most certainly made it very convenient for us. If you have a chance just to chat with Mario - use it, he is a great conversationalist. A couple of tips - don't go to expensive restaurants just for food, there are lots of exceptional places which are reasonably priced. If you are looking for a view and or history, it is different. Yes, taxis are expensive, but you have more flexibility otherwise you need to live by the bus schedule. I would not advise driving in that area... Have a wonderful time at the villa!
Very nice spacious property but unable to find address using google
Took me 4 hours to find this place as the address provided did not direct us to the villa. Using google we ended up in various places within a 20 minute radius dependant upon what we put in the search criteria. This was frustrating. the directions provided were ok once you knew were you were going but finding the place proved problematic.
I would recommend that you get Mario to share his location with you using iphone/ipad so you can be directed directly to villa otherwise its difficult.
Mario was to be fair very helpful, instantly responded to messages and came to meet us were we were lost so we could follow him back to the villa. You need to go to Sorrento 1st then head for Massa Lubrense, if you see the Spar Shop on the LHS you have gone past the right turn you require by about 200 mtrs
We were disappointed initially with the large price increase on the website advertised price compared to what we had to pay once we decided to book, however that aside the place was very nice and as described.
Good points: The villa was spotlessly clean, Very spacious, fantastic terrace and views, good BBQ area, there is a fridge upstairs on the roof terrace for your beer which is a good touch.
Bad points: I have mentioned the directions issue, maybe could do with an update to make it more modern. There are 3 showers inside the villa but we ended up using only one as the other 2 the shower curtain gets pulled in when the water is running and sticks to you.
I had to pay a large sum to get the white cushions cleaned as they got slightly dirty and apparently they have to be dry cleaned. If your renting a villa out to the public then cushion covers that can be removed and washed normally are the way to go as its inevitable things will get some fair wear and tear.
It turned out there was a 100KW energy usage limit which I was not aware of until the end of the rental and we had apparently used 325KW, we were not in a lot of the time so this must have been the air con system. Mario did write this charge off to be fair to him.
Had a problem with the dishwasher not working and it has to be replaced but the housekeeper came and done the pots for us which was good.
The hot tub didn't work all week. Mario got a plumber out and it lasted for 1 use then tripped out again. It is suspected the water system was blocking up despite the filter getting replaced so this was a shame. when it got hot it was hot and goes upto 40 degrees C. 15 mins drive to Sorrento (Taxi 30 euro)
