About this property
1800s Log Cabin with modern amenities conveniently located.
The Homestead Cabin's main living area is an original 200 year old cabin. One of the oldest structures in the county. Over the years additions were made and modern conveniences were added. This is all ONE unit. It is spread out, but still one unit. The historic log cabin now has 3 bedrooms, including a sleeping loft and 3 full baths. One king size, two queen size and one twin bed. There is also a full eat-in kitchen in addition to the formal dining room which is in the historic part of the cabin. Relax in the hot tub and stay connected with wireless internet. There is a large family room on the left end. This is all part of this one unit. It is a large room with plenty of room for games or a great way to separate the adults from the children.
If you're looking for an authentic rustic log cabin, this is it. There is something special about walking in the front door to the aroma of a wood burning fire. Sit in the historic living room next to the beautiful stone fireplace that climbs to the top of the cathedral ceiling of this cozy room.
The cabin is centrally located in an area convenient to Hendersonville and Asheville NC. It is easily accessible to Hwy 25 (less than 1/2 mile) just off of a main road but hidden away in the woods. The authenticity of the cabin gives it a unique feeling and aroma of years past. Although it has additions for more modern facilities, it holds true to the 'cabin in the woods' feeling. This is not a newly constructed log cabin. It is a true 1800's log cabin with additions. Therefore, things are not perfect. The floors may creak and aren't level in places, and there are little quirks but it all gives way to the 'warm & cozy with plenty of room' that makes the cabin unique and authentic. You will get the feel of what it was like to live in a cabin in the 1800's, but have the comforts of this century. If you are looking for 'abundantly fancy with frills', this is not it. But, if it is relaxation and comfort with rustic thrown in that is convenient to most everything the area has to offer, I would love to have you as my guest. You'll love its original quirkyness and unique passages from room to room. Other guest continue to use the term 'cozy, with lots of room'.
Nestled among 80 foot tall hardwoods but only 5 miles from Main Street Hendersonville, 7 miles from the Asheville Airport, and 30 minutes from downtown Asheville.
Experience a taste of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachia from the 1800's with modern conveniences. There is often white & brown squirrels, hawks, Pileated Woodpeckers, ground Hogs, turkeys, sometimes deer and a bear has walked through a couple of times. Check in is 3:30 PM or after. If no one is checking out the same day you are checking in, I can work with you for an earlier check in time. Check out is no later than 10 AM to give my housekeeper time to clean up.

About the host
Hosted by Rebecca Pittman

Welcome to Hendersonville! I am a native who grew up in the neighborhood and still live in the neighborhood. I love meeting my guest and making recommendations to meet your needs. I love working with land and selling land! I am a NC licensed realtor although they are inactive at this time. My full time position is working for one of the nations largest utility companies as an Research Specialist. I collect green depression glass (some call it Vaseline glass) and usually have a few pieces in the cabin for my guest to enjoy. I enjoy classic cars and going to car and tractor shows around the area. In spring, summer & fall there is always a car show somewhere close on Friday or Saturday night.
I love to cook for my family and also can (preserve) fruit & vegetables.

Why they chose this property
The cabin and the property around it were previously owned by my mom & dad during the 1970's. For various reasons it was sold several times, the cabin was added on to and took a different direction for the highest and best use. The previous owners set the property up as a vacation rental. When they listed it for sale in the spring of 2014, I realized it was my opportunity to put it back into the family. I am loving having the cabin in close proximity to my house. When it is not being rented I will occasionally go to the cabin with a cup of coffee, build a fire, sit on the sofa in the quiet and enjoy a good book. Total relaxation! I love the cabin and all of it's little quirks and hope that you will too.
