About this property
Lake Michigan Beach House with Private Hot Tub to get away from it all
Quiet time in nature should be part of a wellness routine, like meditation or yoga. If you’re stressed out, you should be able to pull a rip cord and be sitting at a campfire. This is that place. Why settle for cold and impersonal when you can stay here in this warm, inviting home where you have the beauties of Lake Michigan to admire? The home is directly on the Lake. Enjoy the stunning infinity lake views from nearly every window. The deck overlooks a gorgeous sweep of Lake Michigan that is perfect for swimming. Just 22 steps down to the spacious white sugar sand beach! Our cosy year-round home offers spring and summer sun and fun and Fall’s quiet beauty. Winter is a quiet escape for special holiday memories with family, cocoa by the fireplace and sweeping views of majestic waves skinned with ice.
Please note: the home’s stairs were built like attic stairs: they have shallower treads and higher rise than standard steps. This could be challenging for anyone who physically has trouble with stairs. There is one stairway to get up to the main floor (kitchen, decks, living room, family room, guest room) from the driveway entry, and also another stairway up to the master bedroom level (with a full bath and second guest room). There’s a king bedroom and full bath on the main level that is ideal for anyone who wishes to avoid stairs once they’re in the house. It’s also possible to walk up the slope on the side of the house to the deck level and enter the main floor that way (Not recommended in winter due to slippery conditions).
The home has a warm and wonderful appeal. The kitchen has been renovated with slate, custom tile, stainless appliances, dramatic lighting and a convenient breakfast bar. The upstairs full bath has a large tiled shower overlooking the Lake.
The main floor full bath (with tub) is perfect for guests who want to stay on the main floor because it’s right next to the main floor king size guest room.
There’s a lovey & comfortable living room overlooking the lake with a fireplace and flatscreen TV. There’s also a spacious family room off the kitchen with two daybeds set up for lounging or TV watching, and a spacious dining table for 8, a workspace with phone and desk lamp, and a 2nd TV. Satellite WiFi is great for emails and texting. A landline with free long distance ensures you can stay in touch even if your cell phone has a poor signal.
Enjoy the view of the water while you soak in the hot tub and watch the kids play in the sandbox. Have an outdoor fire on the deck at night. Adirondack chairs for 6, outdoor dining table for 8, and 3 cool chairs down on the lake deck mean there are places you can get some alone time, even when you’re at the lake together.
The water has a very gradual slope that's great for kids: no drop off, lots of sand bars. You can wade out a very long way before you're in deep water. We provide life jackets in many sizes.
The deck area is enclosed to provide a secure area for children so you don't have to worry about a small person going to the lake alone. Combination locks on each gate are easy for grown ups, difficult for children.
We have all the beach towels you'll ever need: and we do the laundry after you leave.
You'll love the master bedroom with a view that quite simply takes your breath away and a wonderful Tempur-pedic mattress. Listen to the waves all night long.
The guest room upstairs has two double beds. The guest room downstairs has a kingsize bed. The family room has two twin size day beds. All linens and towels are provided; so you don’t have to stress planning your vacation.
We want you to enjoy what our family has enjoyed and we invite you to come to stay at this wonderful slice of paradise. You'll love your time here and leave refreshed and happy.

Please note that this VRBO map function does not accurately reflect the location of our beach house. Our house is directly on the beach with no house or street in front of it. Please see our listing photos for an accurate view of the lake and the beach from our deck. Please contact us for the home's address so you can look up the house on Google Earth, which is more accurate.
And now, little bit about us:
When we moved back to Michigan from Atlanta in 1998, we got the 'cottage bug' and we couldn't shake it. We looked around at various cottages on various bodies of water and realized we were addicted to big waves, big sunsets, big sandy beaches and big skies. Nothing else gave us the feeling that Lake Michigan did! When we found our cottage, we jumped at it. It needed lots of work and we ended up building on to give us more space, but it was a fabulous cottage on a fabulous beach and we've never looked back. The only thing we regret is how far away we are now (we live in Seattle) - and that we can't use our place ourselves except for the rare exception. But we know it continues to welcome beach goers in our absence and that makes us feel better, somehow.

Why they chose this property
We bought this cottage as an oasis for our family and it's never failed to live up to that aspiration. It's quiet, peaceful and 'other' where. When we're there, we seem to let go of the 'stuff' that's on our minds at home, and I suppose that's the best thing about the place. Getting away from everything usual, going somewhere apart from the ordinary.
What makes this property unique
This house is comfortable and done up. It's not rustic, not dusty, not basic. It's a real house with real furniture, and that makes it so nice to stay at - even us! We know that you'll agree that it's nicer to stay at a house that's not rickety and spider-webby!
