'My husband and I were in Portland to surprise our daughter when her boyfriend asked for her hand in marriage! We were lucky to have found this charming little apartment for the week. It was just as the photos indicated - very nicely appointed and sparkling clean. It was in a prime location with great shopping and restaurants all within walking distance. The separate entrance was nice so that we didn't feel like we were intruding on our host family. Since we have a 'new family' in Portland, we will stay in this apartment in a heartbeat!'

'I had such a wonderful time staying in this apartment for the week. It was sparkling clean and had everything anyone could need while away from home. The neighborhood is perfect for walking. There are restaurants, shops, a library, coffee shops, bakeries, and a wonderful grocery store all within walking distance. I really hated to leave! The owner, Traci, is warm and more than accommodating!'

'At the last minute I decided to forgo staying at a hotel and my daughter found this lovely back of house apartment in the beautiful Sellwood neighborhood. It was perfect. Brand new accommodations in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood where you could walk down the block and enjoy friendly crowd-filled coffee houses, antique stores, restaurants or discover that special organic-find at the local market. The apartment itself was doll-like, very clean (which I am fastidious about!) and could easily have been a model for a pottery barn ad. Perfect in every way. It was filled with everything you would need from coffee pots to silver ware should you chose to eat in. Lots of windows-making my morning coffee (provided by Traci of course) I could open the kitchen window and treat myself to fresh air to start my day. One unique and surprise feature was the heater nestled in the bathroom-a nicety you don't see very often and the bedroom was perfect-large, spacious closets and very comfy. The living room had a fireplace that was both warm and completed the feel of the apartment even if you did have to turn it on with a clicker. I highly recommend staying at this perfect rental and do so for a longer stay-I had only two nights and could have easily stayed for a week! Traci thought of everything and even provided us with a list of places to go and eat in her cardboard binder-she was a splendid host. I give it five stars!'

'My wife and I much enjoyed our stay in this apartment, indeed it is probably the best appointed and most elegantly designed apartment in which we have spent time (a week plus) in many years of travel. It has the advantage of being one of the few 'guesthouses' in Sellwood, so very well located for visitors such as ourselves coming to spend time with family living in that delightful area of Portland. And where else can you see Mt Hood through the kitchen sink window?!'

'The apartment is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There was a perfectly framed peek-a-boo view of Mt Hood from the kitchen window. It seems newly completed and is located over the garage. The neighborhood has older homes and was great for walking and to many restaurants, Grand Central has coffee and great pastries nearby, Reverend's is delicious southern style BBQ about 2 blocks away, Gino's has a friendly neighborhood bar vibe with gourmet food. It was conveniently located a short (approx. 10 minute) drive to downtown Portland. The hosts were friendly and thoughtful.'

'Wonderful apartment! A brand new house - very very cosy, we did feel like home living there. It has anything you might need for a short or longer staying. Ken and Traci are perfect hosts and they did help us a lot to discover the neighborhood and Portland. We also never had a problem to park our car in front of the house - there was always a free space. Strongly recommended!'

Short memorable stay
This apartment is wonderful. It’s cozy, bright, clean and the hosts are very responsive. The neighborhood is darling and very walkable, with beautiful houses and gardens, close to parks, river views, and Sellwood shops and restaurants. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. This is a perfect place to stay if you are visiting a Lewis and Clark student. It’s close to the school and makes a great home base for taking the kids out.

Impeccable comfort and hospitality
We loved our stay at this beautiful property. Traci was kind, responsive and welcoming even though she and Ken were not in town for the days we were there. The apartment is very thoughtfully designed and decorated, with every comfort to make you feel at home. All of the finishes are of the highest quality, with detailed attention to what travelers need and didn’t even realize they did: reading lights in the right place, USB ports where they are super convenient, luxurious bedding, a cozy gas fireplace for cool days, and optimal use of natural lighting. We hope to return next time we are in Portland and can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We're a family of native Oregonians with two rescue pups and a Lynx Point Siamese. When we're not working, our favorite activities include traveling, whitewater rafting, renovating old homes, restoring the family’s farmhouse in the country, and trying as many new restaurants as is physically possible.

Why they chose this property

I know, we're biased. But after living here for over 25 years, we're staunch believers that Sellwood/Westmoreland is one of the best neighborhoods in America. We were lucky enough to be able to build our dream home in our dream location and included an apartment to be able share our love for Sellwood with others.

What makes this property unique

Located just three miles south of downtown Portland and over the Sellwood Bridge, the Sellwood/Westmoreland neighborhood is brimming with unique shops, delicious dining and fabulous adventures.

Approximately two miles in length and a mile wide, the teardrop-shaped area is rich in natural and recreational amenities. We have four public parks (Westmoreland, Sellwood, Sellwood Riverfront & Johnson Creek), hiking paths (Oaks Bottom Refuge), a public golf course, a bicycle/pedestrian-only thoroughfare (the Springwater Corridor) and the center of Portland's antique shopping.

With a wide variety of shopping and dining choices, our two historic neighborhoods dating from 1876, make it easy to enjoy everything that Sellwood/Westmoreland has to offer.
