Le Cheval Blanc is a large, but intimate and homely self-catering property in the Dordogne providing luxurious accommodation and an exclusive swimming pool at non-luxury prices. We can sleep at least 14 people in 7 big ensuite bedrooms. It may be possible to bring your dog, but you must check with us first.

Your destination is a rambling 19th Century farmhouse in the heart of the Dordogne countryside. It is situated in the tiny secluded hamlet of Joubertias just 5 minutes drive from the charming market town of Riberac where you will find supermarkets, shops, restaurants and banks. Venture just a little further and you will find the mediaeval town of Brantome (the Venice of the Dordogne) and, of course, all the attractions that the wine regions have to offer. Experience has taught us that happy children make happy parents, so we pride ourselves on being baby, child and family friendly. Please contact us to hear more about our facilities for those travelling with babies and young children to make your family holiday as stress free as possible.

We also offer a FREE Welcome Basket for all bookings, and a reasonably priced Welcome Meal for you to reheat at your convenience if you would like.

A wonderful find, superbly equipped and ideal as a cyclists base for a week

From the moment we arrived for our annual week away as a group for 6 days of road riding, it was obvious that Jill and Bill had out their heart and soul in to making the place an excellent choice, not just for cycling but as a charming and brilliantly appointed holiday home The attention to detail is first class, water in every bedroom, loo rolls, well equipped kitchen and a beautiful swimming pool Highly recommended by the Redhill Cycling Club tour gang

Great house

Purport you was just fabulous. Very well equipped with everything you could ever need. Pool smallish but adequate for cooling off and lazing on lilos. Rooms were airy and cool.

Fabulous House

We stayed here for the second time and had forgotten quite how good it is. It has the most equipped kitchen with every utensil you wish for. There are several fridges so for a large group it is easy to cook and have space for drinks. We loved our stay and are grateful for the thought and care that has gone to furnishing this house. Thank you!

so so wonderful!

we were there in june and everything was so well arranged and everything was so thoughtful! a garden with enough possibilities to sit, rest, play. the house so convenient with so much space and bedrooms, all equipment in the kitchen. and lets not forget the pool, the bar, the warm welcome. Bill and Jill are such good hosts, they just made a home there to stay and come again, over and over. we all loved it, thank you so much for everything and for having us, it will be a beautiful memory for our wedding anniversary!

Perfect for a family get away

we had been waiting two years due to covid restrictions to celebrate my wife's 80th and so th expectations were high. There were ten of us there couples and four young adults so the ability to have a bedroom AND en=suite each was a major bonus. The property is a rambling farm house in shaded surroundings with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. We had set standards in choosing the Cheval Blanc - plenty of shade, good inside space, quality kitchen and a swimming pool all of which we found and the fact that every bedroom had a substantial fan meant we were kept as cool as possibly in 35 degree plus heat. The area is very country and has good walks but the big name places such as Sarlat are over an hour away which in the heat was not an option we did however discover Aubeterre, a neat little village with a fantastic underground church, Perigueux,,Brantome and Bourdeilles all great towns to visit. Bill and Jill are charming and very helpful and excellent hosts. Would highly recommend.

Un excellent séjour

Grâce à Lynne, Bill et Jill nous avons passé une semaine magnifique au Cheval Blanc. La maison, les chambres, le jardin, la piscine nous attendaient , propres, arrangés avec goût, avec un petit plus pour le panier d'accueil et le peignoir préparé sur chaque lit des quatorze locataires. Quatorze à dormir, mais aussi une table de 14 dans le séjour comme dehors devant la maison ou à la piscine: Bref on était bien partout! Et une mention particulière pour Bill pour sa réactivité lorsque nous l'avons sollicité. Voilà une habitation à recommander pour ceux qui veulent découvrir ou redécouvrir cette belle région!

Une belle semaine au Cheval blanc

Super sejour dans cette maison spacieuse et confortable. Une cuisine tres bien équipée, attenante à une grande terrasse bien ombragée pour les repas en famille. Le jardin attenant est agréable avec petit coin pour lire ,se prélasser , jouer aux cartes.... prendre l'apero.... Le coin piscine ,un petit paradis et surtout sécurisé pour les petits. Les ados ont apprecié le coin video. Les propriétaires se font discrets. Correspondance chaleureuse..Tout est fait pour nous faciliter le sejour,:des consignes ecrites dans la cuisine... Le plus : dans les environs un magasin de produits régionaux de qualite et du producteur au consommateur. Bref une semaine très agréable avec le soleil.

Maison super équipée dans un environnement très calme

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de vacances en famille dans cette maison spacieuse et très bien équipée. Les propriétaires sont très réactifs pour régler les problèmes qui peuvent survenir au cours du séjour. Le jardin n'est pas très grand mais est agréable avec des espaces ombragés. La piscine est séparée de la maison par une petite route, ce qui est un peu ennuyeux pour les jeunes enfants. Mais très peu de passage puisqu'elle n'est empruntée que pour accéder aux maisons voisines. La piscine est un peu froide; il n'y a pas de bâche et les nuits sont fraiches. Bilan général très positif, d'autant que nous avons eu un temps magnifique.

- the communication with and information from the owners was perfect and very efficient. They prepared everything very well! - the house is certainly big enough. all required kitchen tools are available. - the water upstairs was often a problem: when different people taking water, there was no water or no warm water, almost no pressure on the shower. - the house is a bit older but nevertheless comfortable and everything what you need is provided - very quiet surroundings and possibility to make beautiful walks

Family holiday

There were 14 of us as an extended family and we all agreed how well equipped the house was, including a very well fitted kitchen and entertainment room for the younger members. The bar was an added bonus. Plenty of outside seating for meals and the pool area was well looked after, including a small paddling pool for tiny ones. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this property.

Fantastic property with all you could need

We were a group of three families with six children ranging in age from 6 to 17. Le Cheval Blanc had everything we needed to ensure we all had a fabulous time. We chose this particular property because of the communal spaces and were delighted to find that they lived up to all the expectations. We arrived during some of the hottest days of this summer so it was straight to the pool which was a superb area, complete with plenty of sun beds, umbrellas and pool toys to keep everyone happy. The pool fridge and outdoor cups etc were also very useful to ensure we weren't constantly trekking back indoors for supplies. At mealtimes the outdoor dining area was well positioned and the barbeque utilised for lovely exterior dining. During the heat of midday the children adored the fabulous TV room and in the evenings the lounge/bar area was great for family games and socialising. We loved the gazebo and garden swing but didn't manage to make the most of the indoor dining table and glitter ball! We also managed to drag ourselves away for a few days sightseeing and even a group kayak outing, all very local. All in all it was an entirely enjoyable and memorable holiday.

As a party of 9 adults and 3 children Le Cheval Blanc offered everything we needed and more. On arrival we were greeted by Bill and Jill who are lovely, very helpful and generous. The house is beautifully positioned and equipped with things to keep adults and children alike entertained, thankfully we had amazing weather so made the most of the gorgeous pool together with getting out and about to explore the local area. On occasion the Movie room was used which great. We couldn't recommend Le Cheval Blanc highly enough. Thank you Bill, Jill and Lynne

Our family of 9 adults and 5 children enjoyed our 5th visit to this lovely house . We have already booked for next year. I think this says it all. The house is very well equiped as is the pool area. Annual France Group Holiday

As a group ranging from 8 to15 persons, we have had an annual France holiday for the last 15 years. This property is the best equipped that we have stayed in so far. The quality of the bedding in all the bedrooms was good as was the kitchen equipment. The house is full of character and spacious. I was also a nice touch having a pool fridge to save walking back into the house to grab a cold drink. The host were very helpful & always on hand without being intrusive. The only very minor negative was that the layout of the kitchen resulted limited work surfaces if multiple people were preparing food at the same time.
