The house was generally clean with the exception of the beds, bedding, and windows. The beds and bedding were stained and not very comfortable. The pillow on the master bed smelled of dirty hair and I had to use the decorative pillow to be able to sleep. The compost pile was smelly as was the water. I was super glad that I found out about the water so I could buy bottled water prior to the trip. Everyone said it made their skin smell. We weren't told, prior to our visit, that there would be guys coming around periodically to check stuff outside. That kind of bothered us--invaded our privacy. For the cost of the property you would think that there would be some kind of landscaping but it was dirt. The best thing about the house was its size. It was big enough for our family and it was attractive. It definitely could use a good deep clean, new beds, and bedding. The kitchens were well stocked and user friendly with two nice refridgerators on the main floor. Despite some of the negatives, our family had fun together.
Thank you for your feedback. We have had the water treated and tested. It is now clear and without fragrance. We are scheduled to do this 2-3 times per year to keep it clear. We are also performing a deep clean and organization of the lodge which also happens 2 times a year during spring and fall. Thank you for your feedback on the exterior, we know it is under much renovation and it appears to be "dirt" we are undergoing a reforestation project which will improve the exterior significantly. In the mean time we do have several slides for the kids to play on as well as a nice landscaped fire pit and picnic area to the north of the house.
Lots of positives: There were enough beds and bathrooms for our family of 25; plenty of cookware, dishes, utensils; 3 refrigerators and 2 ovens and microwaves; enough dining table space; convenient to Park City, Jordanelle and Oakley; great indoor recreation area and hot tub; outdoor fire pit with seating; theater room; pool table; the home is easy to find and isolated so no worry of the children wandering away; plenty of parking; Property manager, Emily, was attentive, helpful, friendly and easy to work with.
Areas of concern: The water smelled terrible (from a well/sulfur smell) and no one wanted to shower in it or drink it (drank bottled water); foosball table was broken; neither dryer worked; putrid smell going up the stairs (found dead mice in stair well and once removed all was ok); city composting area is right next to the home which brought flies and awful odors; could have dejunked/cleaned out cupboards, drawers and under the stairs.
Thank you for your review and we are glad your family had a nice time. To address areas of concern:
Water is supplied by a well which is heavy in mineral content and while it is filtered we do not add chemicals to the water so it does have an unusual odor and color. We have provided two Reverse Osmosis water systems in each kitchen for drinking water (I hope you found those).
We did discuss the dryers not working and I apologize we were not able to get them working for your stay. The parts have finally arrived and they are working at this point.
We have a pest control company who comes to the lodge twice a month and while they catch most rodents we do still get the occasional visit, i apologize that happened during your stay. We do our best to de clutter and will make sure to get extra cleaning in.
The composting area is part of a reforestation project for the mountain we will be using it to replant trees and foliage on the mountain.
Thank you again for your stay and for the opportunity to reply.
Family birthday party
This was the perfect place for a multigenerational gathering. We enjoyed the property, the amenities, and the location. Thank you for the perfect venue.
Thank you Nicholas. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. All the best to you and your lovely family!
Our research group stayed here for several days to work together on various writing projects. It was great having so much sleeping space as well as open shared space to work together. We got a lot done and had fun, too.
Thank you Craig, we enjoyed having your group and are glad to accommodate such a wonderful group!
Everything was amazing! Loved the grounds keepers and the house was absolutely stunning. This is a fantastic house for groups! There was so much room for all of our guests and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in. Also huge plus that there were many bathrooms. The "game area" in the front was also very fun, basketball hoop and big area for games. The movie theater room was also really fun to hang out in after a day out on the slopes.
A heads up to future guests, the driveway is very long so don't be alarmed when you arrive (if you don't rent a car Ubers will drive down to pick you up). If it has been raining the driveway does get pretty muddy, so if you rent a car would recommend a four wheel drive!
This place is HUGE!
The perfect place for family or corporate functions. We loved the scenery and the wildlife that roams around the house during the day. Very cool spot to stay! Thanks for hosting our retreat.
This property is perfect for Sundance renters, large reunions and anyone looking to ski and enjoy Park City without the over-sized Park City price. Also ideal for work retreats and anyone looking to enjoy an off-the-grid experience. Eco friendly and unique, OTG offers an experience unlike any other.
