Perfect accommodation with the best host

The property was wonderfully located and and described accurately in the listing. Gary was a terrific host and his hospitality was second to none. My oldest son resides in Denver and my husband, my two younger children and I visit at least twice per year. This would definitely be our first choice on our next trip

Great home but transitional neighborhood

Gary's home is lovely and definitely a home away. He is very thoughtful, responsive, and the home is well appointed. I had fun cooking, and the kitchen was great! The home was clean and the location was walking distance from everywhere. The only point to consider, is it is in a location where older homes are being gentrified and there are areas near the house that didn't feel quite safe. As a woman traveling alone, I felt a little on edge and kept the curtains closed- it could just be me, but i would suggest researching 5 points neighborhood if you are a woman travelling alone.

This is a newer remodeled unit. Location is about twelve blocks from Rockies stadium. Great place!

Gary is a nice, helpful guy. The place is nice , clean and feels like home away from home. We had a wonderful time while in Denver and look forward to staying here again!

Great family getaway

The place is unique and warm. Our girls enjoyed the bunk bed and the cute porch in the back. It's walking distance to the grocery store and 16th street. We loved our stay there!

Convenient and comfortable apartment steps from downtown

I was in Denver for a conference, and Gary's apartment was a very comfortable and convenient alternative to a hotel. It was an easy and safe walk from the apartment to downtown. I didn't have a chance to cook anything, but if I did, the kitchen was very well-stocked. I found Gary to also be responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Perfect downtown apartment

We were there for a conference over the weekend in downtown Denver (18th and California). Gary's apartment was a 10 minute walk to the meetings, and 10 minutes of walking is a good thing before one sits much of the day! Staying here, we had walking access to all kinds of restaurants and markets. We could make our own meals/snacks in the well appointed kitchen. Very quiet at night and had no problem sleeping- very comfy bed and linens. Plenty of room for our stuff. Great atmosphere to relax in. Parking on the street was no problem and we felt absolutely safe in this neighborhood. Gary was available if we had any questions. He runs a top-notch VRBO and we are glad to have stayed there.

Great deal in a convenient, up and coming location

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in the 1-bedroom upstairs apartment of Gary's Victorian Home. His place is clean, comfortable, and has way more charm than your average hotel room, at half the cost. The neighborhood is close to downtown yet quiet, with a Safeway a couple blocks aways and some great places to eat, including Rosenberg's Deli, with the best bagels west of NYC! On the street parking is very easy. Gary is a helpful, responsive host and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in his place again. We hope to return in the summer when we can take advantage of the beautiful deck!

Ideal Spot in Downtown Denver

This urban property was perfect for our winter getaway. Within walking distance of everything downtown. The apartment itself was great: had every amenity you might want. It was clean and had beautiful architectural details. The steam sauna was perfect after being outside on a cold winter day! Gary (owner) was exceptionally prompt in communications, and very helpful, despite it being the middle of the holiday season. Would HIGHLY recommend this centralized location. Took advantage of several performances at the Denver Performing Arts Center. Skated for free at Skyline Park downtown. Had some great meals (try Yazoo BBQ just a short walk from the property). Grocery store only a couple blocks away, so also prepared some meals at home. Uber is fast and reasonable for anything that isn't within walking distance.

Living Like a Local in Denver!

We spent 6 days at this apartment and were very pleased. All is as advertised. Most of the other reviews have covered the basics so I'll touch on things that stood out for us. The neighborhood is definitely transitional but seems to be perfectly safe. We liked seeing the gentrification and remodeling going on. And there are all sorts of new living options going up right and left. Everyone we met and spoke with in the neighborhood area was friendly and helpful. This apartment is in a great location--the light rail is very convenient but walking is an option and just as easy. We didn't have or need a car. We took the bus shuttle from the airport, then the 16th Street bus to the light rail station which let us off a little over 2 blocks from the apartment. Love that! The apartment is really decked out and has loads of personality. There aren't many rentals that have a washer and dryer, a steam shower, a well-stocked, full-sized kitchen and ceiling speakers in all the rooms! And the price can't be beat! We only spoke with the owner once but he seemed ready and willing to help and do anything he could to insure our visit was great. How great is that?! We travel to Denver and environs several times a year. We would be hard pressed to find a better place for the money. We'll be checking in here again I'm sure.

Great stay

Spent three nights in this apartment, and it was great. Very nice and comfortable with many upgrades. Parking is on the street, but we had no problems getting a spot right out front. Many different spots are within walking distance. We walked to Coors Field for games, and there are many spots in between to stop for a cold beverage. I would stay there again in the future. What small issues we had were quickly taken care of by Gary, the owner. He was very responsive and easy to deal with.

Great home in Denver's Historic North Point

We came to Denver to attend the Great American Beer Festival. This home was amazing. The inside was very nice, quite neighborhood and it was very close to downtown. We used the light rail to get to the convention center but we were also able to walk there in 20 mins. There are also a lot of nice breweries within walking distance as well as the Falling Rock tap house. Obviously beer was our goal and there was so many great places near by. The on street parking was nice. We didn't have to pay to park, which can be very expensive.

Great place to stay in Denver

Great space to experience Denver. Quiet street with easy parking. Nicely located. We had a nice stroll to Coors Field. BCycle is a block away and a great way to get around town. Gary was a great host with very good communication and when we arrived and the wifi wasn't working, he worked hard to get us back online. Beautiful antique furniture and comfortable bed.

Hidden Gem

My family and I recently vacationed in Denver July 4-7, 2015. When pricing vacation rentals Gary was by far the most responsive. He was extremely transparent and I knew I was dealing with a reputable person. Price: Fantastic pricing. Originally, we reserved the only hotel we could find on short notice, which was a Motel 6. Four days at Gary’s rental ended up being $100 dollars cheaper than that hotel, which had none of the amenities that he offered. After confirming my reservation with him, I immediately canceled my booking with the hotel. Property: Gary’s property is as advertised. The rental was clean, very nicely decorated and spacious enough for four people to comfortably move around. TV, WiFi, satellite, DVD, etc. The kitchen was my favorite part of the house (it’s gorgeous!). We decided to cook a full course meal while we there and Gary provided everything we needed from pots to tableware to seasoning and spices. The only con that I can think of is curb appeal is a bit lacking, but honestly that was the least of our concerns and had no impact on our stay. Location: Gary’s rental is in the perfect location, mere blocks from Downtown Denver. We’d hop in the car and in 5 minutes we’d be at any modern convenience: gas, groceries, shopping, bars and the freeway. It was obvious that the neighborhood is in the middle of an exciting revitalization. I found it to be an up and coming, trendy and eclectic community. Our entire group raved about the city of Denver, we had a incredible time there, and 50% of that was due to our lovely accommodations. We plan on returning to Denver in November and if possible we will be booking with Gary again.

Beautiful Place in the Perfect Location

We visit Denver several times a year and this home is my new favorite place to stay! Perfectly located on a quite street, walking distance to the heart of downtown. The a house is beautifully remodeled with many modern upgrades. As someone who loves to cook, I was quite pleased with the kitchen and how well stocked it was. I must say however, our favorite feature was the steam shower. All in all a terrific experience and we can't wait to come back and stay again!

Great location, good space, nice amenities

My family stayed here and it was very comfortable. The location was close enough to walk to groceries, a park, and other downtown stops. The recent legalization issue can be seen in some of the people walking by, yet everyone we encountered was polite. The neighborhood is quiet and across the street, a 746 square foot, one bedroom apartment is for sale for $268,000. You won't find a place this nice in this downtown area for such a good price as a vacation by owner. Once the minor finishing touches are done on the house (molding around the bookcase) it will be perfect. This main floor location is great with strollers.

highly recommended

I would definitely recommend this apartment. it was comfortable and well decorated and Gary was an excellent host. The apartment was stocked with many amenities we needed and was clean. The steam.shower was a nice bonus. the location was convenient; walking distance from the downtown shopping areas and eateries. The neighborhood, while not upscale per se, is on the rise and a lot of.development is happening in the area.

Host profile image
I am a second-generation Italian-American Denver native raised in Denver's North Berkley neighborhood. I have a background in civil engineering and worked by profession as a Geographic Information Specialist in Asia for 15 years. After returning to the US I embarked on a 3-year, painstaking renovation of the Tremont Place House. From my time overseas I gained an appreciation for Asian style and art, which is reflected in my home renovation design and decor.

Why they chose this property

I felt compelled to preserve this 130-year old house of rare architectural style to save a part of Denver's early history. I treasure Denver's old neighborhoods and beautiful home architecture, which was a driving force in the passionate restoration this house. I have a connection to the neighborhood from my childhood, from the time I would play in the back-yard of my Aunt's Curtis Park home just blocks away.

What makes this property unique

The location of this apartment puts you a stone's throw away from all the convenience and action of downtown while on vacation. The apartment's proximity to the central business district also makes it ideal for the business traveler. From the light rail station just over 2 blocks away, you can travel the extent of Denver's public transportation with ease and forgo the use of a car entirely. If you ride a bike, you can rent one from the B-Cycle public bike kiosk less than 2 blocks away. Shopping, bars and restaurants of Downtown and the 16th Street Mall are just a 15-minute walk away. The location's convenience and popularity earn a Walk Score of 86 out of 100. Close by with easy access are the Botanic Gardens, Convention Center, Pepsi Center, Mile-high Stadium, Coors Field, 16th Street Mall, Larimer Square, City Park, Museum of Natural History, Denver Zoo, Denver Art Museum, State Capital, and all of downtown. From the light rail, you are just 5 minutes from the Denver Convention Center and central downtown. A major grocery store, fast-food, liquor store, and other small shops are located in a complex just 3 blocks away.
